Ffh Nes Ii

I'll take a spot!
Sheaim, capital in 19, Bair Lacuna will be on peak of that rise in the center of the island.

The First Turn

The first turn consists ONLY of spending your starting money. Each player begins the game with 500 gold.

1. Sheaim

2.The Capital Bair Lacuna will be in province 19, on peak of that rise in the center of the island.

3. Mysticism, Culture and Society

4. Spend your starting gold either in part or fully. It may be wise to retain some so as to invest in improvements or units that may be uncovered from your initial research efforts
* a new city costs 110 gold (don’t forget to build roads to your new city
* you may buy research points directly. Until much later when the appropriate technologies and civics are discovered, this is the only time you will be able to do so. Each research point costs 3 gold. Early technologies cost approximately 25 research points (some more, some less). State what research path you wish the points spent in.
* You may buy population directly by paying for the requisite food. One food costs 1 gold. To grow your capital to size 5 from size four would require 25 gold. To grow a new city from size 1 to size two would cost 4 gold. Got it?

Food Required to Grow City= (current population of city+1)^2
* You may buy priority slots for your cities and outposts. Without investments in ‘crafts and metals’ technology there is no reason to invest in industry priority slots. Without substantial investments in ‘exploration and trade’ technology, there is no reason to invest in ‘trade’ priority slots (I would recommend against this).
* You may buy land clearances, cottages, wooden palisades, or packed earthen roads. Remember to buy ‘agriculture’ or ‘domestic commerce’ priority slots for your city if you purchasing land clearances or cottages.

4. Spending:
A new city on 20, at the mouth of that river system., with roads connecting and an extra population there (120g in total? 110 city+4 for pop. 2+5-6 for a short uphill road)

Buy 75g of research, preferably towards Scholarship.

Province 19
35g on 2 Domestic Commerce and 1 Agriculture priority slots
To go with those 25g for two cottages and one farm clearing

Province 20
25g on 2 Agriculture and 1 Commerce slots
20g on two farm clearings and one cottage
So,500-120-35-25-25-20=200 flat. Bank that

5. Origins
...will write something...

Gregori
Province 42. Fork in the River as a trading post will be my Capital.
Your new capital has a starting population of 4.
Food/Growth and Exploration/Trade

write a story describing your people, their leader and their rise from the frozen age of ice.

Will finish, worked on.

Do you have to post your initial spending in the thread as oposed to pming it? I will post mine in the mornng.

@ EKOLITE: I would rather PM (with the tittle: 'NATION X' pre-turn spending- final orders') and thats what will be required for future turns, but i'll accept orders whichever which way this turn.

RE: UB, UU, and general improvements to a race based on expectations
Amurite mages are not automatically better than others. Lanun ships are not automatically better than others. But, the amurites will have a UB that provides 'military quality' to mages that others won't have (or as strong) and the Lanun harbours/ports will increase naval 'military quality' more than other nations. So, its a generic bonus but needs to be developed and comes from a UB.

@ Thomas, re: UB & UU
UB & UU are limited only by your imagination and story-writing ability (and resources and technology). (don't quote me on that- we may limit each nation to 'x' number of UU & UB but i haven't thought that far ahead yet.)
I dont think you'll get horse-riding naftha-grenade throwing cavalry as the khazad but you might as the sheim or amurites or hippus. You just need the right back-story.

@JOPA or others capable with photoshop
how do i get a semi-transparent shape that matches the outlines of the provinces to fit over another map (like Jopa did for his maps) with photoshop?

Amurites, province 32
Cevedes will be near the forke in the left river (to the left of the 3)
research towards mysticism and scolarship.
expand into province 30, and build Nimirail, connecting with roads (120? gold)
I will also buy a farm near cevedes and buy 1 priority slot in Cevedes for agriculture.
the rest of the gold is saced.

Sorry, increase Population of Cevedes by as much as possible

Increasing population without buying a workforce for agriculture and the associated farms or domestic commerce workforces and the associated cottages is not recommended but you are free to do as you like. Why don't you consider your options a bit and either confirm your orders or submit new spending. You aren't in a rush.

I call a slot, now who do I want to play as?

Edit: I've decided to be the Hippus at territory 22

Lots of woods there. Conifers in the highlands and decidious trees in the lowlands. Strange for hippus but totally doable and they might even use their horses differently than expected in lightly wooded hills.

Actually, i've changed my mind. Set all gold into Technology. (along ym chosen paths, naturally)

Actually, I have been on a little to many NESes. Let Tyrs take it.

If there are another spot tell me and I will finish editing my start.

Use magnetic laso to mark along the outlines, open up a new layer, go Edit->Stroke for borders or Edit->Fill for, well, fill, then use layer transparency to make it nice :goodjob:

@ Merciary: If you plan to take another land area as your own (without forests) I'd take yours.

Retroactive deletion.

Are all the spots for this Nes taken up? I only counted 6 but I might be wrong. If there is still one left I would gladly take the Elohim at 10.

OK... just finished bombing my third exam in three days, so now I have a little bit of time before I start round 4. Tomorrow. This week sucks.

Anyway, I'll rock the boat a bit. I'll take the Sidar, on territory 10. I'll put the town on the upper part of the southern river/inlet.

I'll send the PM with the rest of the startup details within a couple days, hopefully. What is the ETA on this thing?

Eh, sorry about that. Honestly I don't even know if there is an open spot left for me anyways so there is a chance 10 is all yours. I tried browsing through the thread but I'm not really sure how many spots are reserved for previous players. I'm really hoping that I get to give this a try, I saw the last one moderated by Jopa and it looked great.

Let's count, then. In order of joining:

1) Ekolite
2) thomas.berubeg
3) orangelex44
4) merciary
5) TheJopa
6) Tyrs
7) Charles Li (?)

So your slot depends on whether or not Charles participates.

All right sounds good. I guess I'll wait on my orders/origins story until I know if Charles Li is going to give up his slot.
