Who has trade? look here

There will be no tech brokering. A tech learnt from a foreign nation will be marked as [Civ name][Tech Name]. You can only broker a tech once you 'make it your own', a process that requires 30% of the RP spent to research it yourself (round down).

So, if i am playing the basleraphs and the khazad trade me gunpowder, i will have learnt Khazad Gunpowder. That will be the name of the tech in my tech list. if i want to 'make it mine' then i can spend 30% of the RP used to research it myself and it becomes just 'Gunpowder' and i can trade it away, lets say to the Doviello. They would then be learning 'Balseraph Gunpowder'.

EDIT: any questions?

No, of course it wouldn't it wouldn't. First few people to hunt down that trading partner are gonna reap the benefits and leave with a whole pile of techs.

To clarify, I was just saying this as a humerous aside as everyone races to get in on the first tech rush. I just think it is a funny situation, I didn't mean that this is the reason I oppose tech brokering.

I don't oppose this for balance reasons, but just out of my personal preferences. I honestly don't know if picking up all the first level techs in one swoop is too powerful, but I do know that I'd rather have doing that require searching out a civ who researched the tech and trading them for it. I'm not saying it is overpowered; obviously once everyone gets the trade tech it is completely balanced. I am simply saying that I enjoy games in which you can only trade techs you have personally researched because for me, that makes trading much more fun. But to each his own.

Edit: Ninja'd. I guess it isn't an issue now, but I'd like to at least leave the first part up to explain my earlier post, since it was pretty misleading.

Here is what i wrote in the rules section:

Trading Technologies

Once you have access to the 'trade' technology you can engage in tech trading with anyone you have had contact with provided you are not at war with them.

You can negotiate whatever tech trading deal you want- its totally up to you.

You CANNOT trade for part techs (like 20rp towards something).

When you learn a tech from another nation, it retains its 'cultural stamp'. That cultural stamp means that anything that has to do with that technology will resemble how the people who taught you that tech make use of that knowledge. So if you learn hunting with the cultural stamp of the Ir-O-Kee, then your hunters would have trained in a fashion similar to Ir-O-Kee hunters and your hunting lodges and tanneries would be indistinguishable, in style, from Ir-O-Kee ones.

A cultural stamp is indicated by the [CIV NAME] preface to the name of the technology- ie: 'Ir-O-Kee hunting' instead of just 'hunting'.

You cannot trade a tech away if it has a foreign civ's cultural stamp associated with it.

You can 'integrate' the technology into your society (learn your own way of doing the same thing) by spending 30% of the RP that would normally be required to learn the tech from scratch (round down to nearest integer). So you could make Ir-O-Kee hunting into 'hunting' by spending 16 (55rp*.3) rp.

Once the cultural stamp is removed you can trade it as if you had learnt it yourself (and anyone learning it from you would inherit your cultural stamp)

By the way, Immac, did you make any headway with my last two emails? I'm sorry to keep sending them at you, but given my current situation I think you probably understand.

I think I got another Mini-hero unit planed.

High Morale and many recruit (allowing for cheeper upgrades and harder to destroy) Militia? E-mail sent before I got this idea Immy!

I think i have caught up on your e-mails and PMs. if i haven't answered something thats important to you, please advise me, i have overlooked or forgotten it and you need to remind me.

I think, however, that i answered them all. You have all been very busy bees over the last couple days.

EDIT: things i need to do:
  • update map
  • update the tech tree
  • update story list

Well I have part of the story list done a few posts back. Only 1 story made after it, I think (I did it on the 20th)

I was looking at the story post (post 4, page 1) and I found the source of the 'Master Reuti' problem (although I didn't find a quick or easy solution). If you view the HTML source, you can see that all of the links look like this:
Code:
and the postcount=XXX is correct for each entry. However, every story that goes to Master Reuti (that I tested, but it seems to hold) has an identical p=7698954, which I assume is the master postcount. I don't know how it happened, and I don't know of a quick fix, but that's the source of the problem at least.

My correct links are:
The Awakening - Pt 1:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=7791332&postcount=566
The Awakening - Pt 2:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=7815349&postcount=590
Mahshi's Burden:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=7831649&postcount=656
Tales from a Kappa Taproom:

"Busy bees", huh?

Immac, is there any chance that you'll release some of the average income numbers again? It's been 10 turns again, it'd be nice to try and see how far back I stand from the pack.

Hmmm... not sure. I have the data all calculated because i was about to post it but i don't think i will do that anymore.

Here is what i was going to write:

At the end of 9, the average gold income was XX.X and had a standard deviation of X.X. The lowest per turn income was XX and the highest was XX. The average food production was XX.X and the standard deviation was X.X. The lowest food production was XX and the highest was XX. The average research was XX with a standard deviation of X.X. The lowest research was XX and the highest was XX. The average stability was XX.X with a standard deviation of X.X. The range was from XX to XXX.

Since turn 9 things have changed but I don’t want to give turn 11 data.

but i won't be writing it (So why did i do a file in excel????)

Well I don't have a problem with the data being posted, I think it's a good idea.

I think, at the very least, no one should have a problem with the averages being posted. Perhaps listing the high and low points might be an issue - but averages shouldn't hurt any. Neither should standard deviation, for those statistic savants out there.

The Range as in amount between highest to lowest is Ok with me.

If the range for gold is 100, I will Lol.

I don't have problem with any of that info being given. Its the only way I'll know... If the range for gold was 100 wouldn't that mean someone is getting more than 100g per turn? That seems very high...
