FfH2 0.22 Bug Thread

Did you patch to h? I think someone had that issue not long after 0.22 was released.

OK, I apologize too for this discussion in the bugs thread. It would be great if it could be moved to its own thread as there seems to be some interest in the Basium alliance.

A couple of points, Magister, if you don't mind.

I find, as you said, Basium will declare war on AV civs, but also others as well. For example, he declared war on Hippus who was Neutral/ROK. Also, that 'whenever he can' is a bit misleading. What do you mean by that? Do you mean, like always?
The same as above. Let's put it in the FAQ-thread or similar.
I am really interested in such details. I felt that Basium declares war on all evil civs.

Bug report?
1. In my first .22 I noticed several crashes as I was used sometimes in vanilla Civ. Only when I disabled show friendly and also enemy movements in the options menu the game was stable as before.

2. The text is missing when Thyphoid Mary infects a tile. (I'm playing in German, but the red text - seems to be a command line - is of course in English.)

How do you know if you patched to H? I just recently reinstalled after a long break from playing. and just downloaded FFH off the FFH site.

Readme FIle Just Says
Fall from Heaven 2
Version 0.22

That's exactly how you know it. If patch h is installed the readme will say
Fall from Heaven 2
Version 0.22h

The h patch is in the first post in this thread.

I finally found the patch but I did not see it anywhere in this forum I had to go back to the forum section below

Civilization Fanatics' Forums > CIVILIZATION IV > Civ4 - Creation & Customization > Civ4 - Modpacks

I think there should ba a locked sticky at the top of the forum for the patches and notes so those who find the forum before the thread linking them here can find it.

The first post in the bug thread (this one here) has the most recent patch in it.

I am unable to download the patch "H" from the link provided in the original post. It simply says unable to connect to kael.civfanatics.net. I even tried kael.civfanatics.com, since CivFanatics itself is a .com domain, but that also does not work.

Is there a mirror or other site hosting the file?

Edit: Tried again about 10 hours later, and it worked. Sorry to bother.

They're definitely cumulative. You sure you installed them both and that they were installed with the same target?

How do I assure that they have the same target? Im not a technical guy when it comes to this stuff, but this is what I do when I download a patch, (which process has previously worked);
>I click run program and then browse till I find My Games, which I open and then select Civ 4, Mods, FFH .22, and then I click install. It then loads up as a mod file within the Mod file FFH .22.
Like I said, Im just not sure how to verify the target. I was and am hoping that that is taking care of by downloading within the FFH .22 folder.

They are cumulative, Kael said so.
Now, if you are not sure then all you have to do it to install it again. Nothing bad will happen if you just point the right folder. A patch here is only a selfextracting file with all the python, xml files and the gamecore dll.

You should point the patch to the 'MOD' folder, not to FFH 0.22 folder, it will find that folder on its own.

I would prefer it you did need to specify the folder. I often keep a modified version and a normal one, and the patch changes both. This often breaks the modified version.

I believe that the patches are supposed to be cumulative, but often minor graphic changes are not included. It has been stated that the latest patch would bring you up to date, but sometimes you need to install them all in order to avoid pink axes, etc

Exactly the same here.

With all the problems regarding wrong installation paths all the time I think I have to repropose an real installer which takes this information from the registry.

Take a look at the "TotalRealism" Mod for an good example.

You can't imagine where I have seen the mod folder after checking non working installations on differernt computers. Some pointed to the civ4 folder, some to civ4/assets others to civ4/mods/ffh ...

bug or non-bug (i.e. cosmetic), that is the question.
.22h: The icon of the air node is now empty (in pale yellow). In .21 there was a wrong icon, that of body instead that of air.

I FINALLY managed to download this mod (woooo!!!!) but it won't get past the CivIV 'loading' splash screen before terminating the program (no python init loading bar or anything). Civilization4.exe terminates instead of hanging, I checked in task manager. Even with HidePythonThingy = 0, no error boxes pop up during this (brief) process.

This is the first time I've tried installing a 3rd party mod, so maybe I'm missing something crucial. I have:

- downloaded the 0.22 exe and installed it to the default location (program files/firaxis/civiv/mods (roughly), not under a user profile or anything)
- downloaded patch 'h' and installed it to the default location (also tried this without patch h, no luck)
- tried to load the mod via the shortcut AND through the mod menu in the CivIV interface.

(reinstalled the mod as well, didn't work)

The machine I'm running this on has XP, MS Office, vanilla CivIV (all legit, no Warlords, no official patches either...) and basically nothing else, this is probably the closest to a clean machine you'll find anywhere :)

The 'mods' that come with CivIV that require restarting the program all load and play fine, it's just FFH2 that doesnt want to load :(

Any help on this would be MUCH appreciated, no doubt I'm doing something stupid.

You can install the icon of FfH on your desktop, so it will load more easily. Yust as you do it with every other program (right click properties, searching for another symbol, putting in the correct path etc.). The red icon is in the mod-file as .bmp I think.

When you double click at FfH.exe it will also start. The CivIV-CD must be in your drive. Good luck!

Sorry, the FAQ thread would be the better one.

I built Baron Duin Halfmorn and he had the hidden nationality promotion because of the Council of Esus. I was the calabim and I sent him into the orc clan territory. I won a number of battles, enough to raise him to level 6. However he never generated any werewolves, even when I attacked. I then gifted him with vampirism, maxed out his experience then sat him in there territory. The orcs attacked him numerous times until they killed him, but he never generated a single werewolf.

HN werewolves (even the baron) will not spawn any new werewolves. You have to declare nationality.
