Hello all. Apologies for posting this in so many places. I downloaded the 3.19 patch for BtS and patched it fine. Loaded it up and even played a bit in the "vanilla" mode. Then I installed FFH2 0.41b patch. Tried loading it up and got a CtD. Reinstalled the mod from scratch, same result. Then I tried some other mods, and NONE of them worked. Bizarre. Not even the ones pre-loaded with BtS (Like Afterfall, Final Frontier etc.).

Anyhow, was just wondering if other FfH players on Ubuntu had encountered the same problems? I'm currently on Ubuntu Jaunty running Wine 1.1.23. And BtS 3.17 with FfH2 041a worked fine (as did Orbis and FF). Thanks people!

If you start it from the command line, do you get any errors? If so, it might be helpfull to post them. Also, how do you start the mod? Shortcut, or do you start the game regularly and switch to FFH using Advanced > Load Mod ?

On Ubuntu Intrepid, pretty much everything failed for me with Wine 1.1.23 -- I downgraded to Wine 1.1.22 and things worked well again. I haven't tried 1.1.24 (which was just released Friday.)

Hmmm. I have been running it from the command line, should I post the output up here? I am running the mod through the BtS menu (not shortcut). I tried BtS 3.19+FfH2 in Wine 1.1.24 but got the same results. Will check with 1.1.22 and see what happens (thanks for the tip). FfH2 041a and BtS 3.17 works fine in Wine 1.1.24 by the way. There seems to a problem with the 3.19 update and mods in general, as none of them work (not even the ones which come with BtS). I've posted on the Wine forums, we'll see how that goes.

Using Wine 1.1.22 throughout, I just installed FfH2 and the .41b patch on top of my Civ 4 Complete with the BTS 3.19 patch. Seems to work for me. Screenshot attached.

Many thanks, Emperor Norton, downgrading to Wine 1.1.22 seemed to do the trick. :D

Please help. I get the error:

"MSI_OpenDatabaseW open failed r = 80030003 for L"\\C:\\windows\\temp\\{33B49AEB-D564-4E0D-9BFB-9EB4FE9E6941}\\{32E4F0D2-C135-475E-A841-1D59A0D22989}\\vcredist.msi""

both in 1.1.24 and 1.1.22 when trying to install 3.19 patch.

These are the steps that worked for me. Using Wine 1.1.22 throughout:

Start with a fresh Wine instance, e.g.

export WINEPREFIX=/usr/local/civ

This'll put everything under /usr/local/civ, not under $HOME/.wine, and you'll have to make sure WINEPREFIX is set like that for everything you do with Wine there (like running the games.)

Get winetricks and use it to install d3dx9 and msxml3.

Run the installer from the Complete Edition DVD. (I haven't done this with other versions.)

Run the 3.19 patch (I downloaded it separately and ran that; I didn't try updating from within the game.)
