File Sharing Programs

Hey, now that napsters gone, we need a new program that all MP3 worshippers can use.

Heres my reviews of all of them.

these are all from a 56kers view.

Napster - Nice and fast, but no artists are available coz of the filters.

Limewire - I found it was really hard to use, it was slow and just didn't work

Imesh - Realiable but very slow

Audiogalaxy - Werid, i couldn't figure how to use it.

WinMX - The best so far, nice and fast, easy touse, but now that its becoming popular, the WPMP servers are become to slow.

Bear Share - Im currently tyring it out, its reasonably fast, but the search is weird, and i can't browse other users stuff.

Any ofther things? Opinions?

It's a very good, un-apologetic napster knockoff. Fast as Napster and tons of quality users......check it out

audiogalaxy is by far the best program to get music.. not only that .. i've found the RAREST stuff on audiogalaxy.. stuff i would never had found on napster at it's peak

it's really not THAT HARD to understand the program..

if you want i'll write a quick tutorial on how to use it..

That's the ultimate program. It's like Napster with an exception: it's for all files: MP3, movies, PC files, Mac files... You can find everything on Hotline. Now I'm hunting for the beta version of Civ3. I heard that it was "lost" somewhere on a Hotline server. He he he.

For all you Europeans Filetopia would probably work out very well for you. I tried it, but all the servers are in Spain or Andorra or something and everything was slow as constipation. The one plus is the large scale effort to keep everything perfectly private so that no one anywhere can identify you or even your IP address. But all that encryption adds time to your activities too.

It would be a great program if it were faster and had a larger user base.

I've been using Limewire, getting decent results. I did not get into Napster until it was too late, so I can't compare. It does seem a bit slow, and it bogs down other web surfing noticeably when it is running.

However you can find a ton of stuff including non-music files. I just managed to download the entire "Phantom Edit" version of the last Star Wars movie just to see if it is any better than the original that my kids keep watching.

That alone makes it fairly cool in my book.

Since it's a freeware, it's everywhere. You can try google, or davecentral.com

I recommend napigator. It uses the napster program but it allows you to log onto non-napster servers. It works excatly like napster.

as much as we all have our prefence's of hotline, AudioGalaxy, limewire, bearshare, even the old and now dead Scour. Using a combination of programs like Bear share and hotline i find best: fo example using bearshare i can setup prameters for what to search for and what type of results i want, like file size and speeds. At the same time when you use hotline and find a fast server it can be great cueing your Dl's, being able to resume, all sorts little features you can do. i love hotline for finding games or (nudiy pics, if your don't have a GF), but if its movies or music i want then then by far bear share is better with thousands of servers and hundreds of thousands of users.

but your right scorch there are many choice's out there, they all get better once you have broadbanf though.

www.aimster.com is the best alternative to napster by far. But Napster is working great for me and i'm able to download all artist. I have to use Napigator to individually log into bigger servers. If i don't use napigator it'll log me into servers with only some 30,000-60,000 files on it. But napigator will let me log onto individual servers with some 700k files

Mmm, I've just found a good Hotline server. It's a double-T3 connection! And even though we were 30 guests downloading at the same time, I got 65k/sec. And that was not the server limit but my office connection limit...
Only problem: these kind of servers are rare.

Well I like WimMX but I think that it's a bit slow - KaZaA is much faster and has some other cool features!!

The only bad thing about KaZaA is that it'll only show the first 100 hits in a search!!!
