Wireless energy transfer is one I can think up of. An electrolaser is not a good candidate for it because of the danger and low efficiency involved but I clearly stated the technology BEHIND it.

Military scientists go for military uses, civilian scientists go for civilian uses. Military gets more funding and more priority with their studies than civilians. I never claimed I had extensive insight to provide, I simply said it was no surprise that this technology would be perverted to a weapon rather than a tool.

Actually, these days civilian scientists go for both for the money involved. And fwiw, wireless energy transfer has been in the works since the 1800s with varying branches being followed.

Also, why is weapons development a 'perversion' of a tech? War and conflict has ever been a growth period of technology all throughout history. Its just a simple fact, not a perversion at all, and fwiw a whole lot of 'tools' have made good weapons, historically speaking, and certainly have dual-purpose.
