[BTS] Finally won on Monarch

After multiple attemps I finally won at Monarch difficulty. I used to retire from matches when I feel I wasn't doing so well. I retired from a late game when my neighbor stole Advanced Flight the same turn I research it. I retired from a game when I was half conquered a civ, only for he getting vassaled to a stronger civ. Sure, I could have maybe won those games, but I wasn't feeling it.

So, on this game I was playing with Elizabeth. Decided not to bother with war and going to space victory instead. I found out that is hard for me to beat other civs on conquest / domination, maybe Im not cut out to be a civ general after all. War it makes games longer for me anyways. I got my win at 1935 AD, 10 turns ahead from another civ getting cultural victory. Yeah!

Nice job, and welcome to the forums! Do you have any screenshots? It's fun to periodically take screenshots in a game, and then describe what was going on during the game, what your decision process was, etc.

As for your prior attempts: there's no issue with retiring from matches when you're bored with a game or if you think that it's an unwinnable situation. And if you're talking about Advanced Flight, you're really getting into the very slow, ages-per-turn modern warfare that many people would rather avoid in this game.

Winning a Space Race against the AI at higher difficulty levels is nothing to scoff at, since the longer games go, the more economic advantage the AI players get.
