We seem to be missing a discussion on what we want to do with the rest of our continent, so guess I'll help a bit by starting one. :)

There has been a lot of talk about completely taking over our continent. The majority seem to want to fill it up so that the other continent civs can't squeeze in. So, with no further ado...

  • Is this really the strategy? Any dissent?
  • Rome first, or Germany?
  • When? Right away, build up some more?
  • Expand first, or war first? Or both at the same time?
  • How do we expand and keep the economy going?

I have 2 plans for the conquest of Germany

Rough Plans:
1) Attack all three Cities in one go. (Requires a build up of troops, but the actual war would be quicker)

2) Attack them one at a time, starting with Frankfurt and going north
(Could happen once troops are positioned, but will take longer to take all the cities)

I prefer to get our economy really cranking and expand slowly. Keep germany around for a "pet" who we can bully around. Then kill him.

I back up Joe here, Germany first in a singular Blitz, then settle the coast asap.

Germany, then Rome. If we don't attack Germany, Rome will eventually, since Bismarck is so weak militarily.

I'm a bit surprised with this topic. When the "Peace with Rome" discussion was started, I believe by Provolution, it quickly became clear that we would stay at peace for a brief period in which we would build modern units to erase Germany.

We can already erase Germany with Vassalage Macemen, just give them cover and city raider, and we are set. I am still puzzled why the new war on Germany is neither prepared or polled. But I see that the dear citizens are more focussed on "citizen inputting" each other to death on "legalities" and "principles", than actually planning and implementing the very game.

The focus seems to be on finding weaknesses on each other in some boggling abstract "legalese" mind-game, than to map the German defenses, make a battle plan and just do it. The discussions are getting more twisted by the day.

It was this boggled line of thinking that drew me to the game in hope for reform, but also the same thinking that has deterred me since. In fact, the strategy discussion now reminds me of the JPLF in "Life of Brian". But then again, you are the bosses, so go ahead, do as you please.

The legalities are an important section of the Dg not the dG. And for the citizen the real reason and most only possibility to participate.

Well, the thing is to keep two thoughts in the head at once. This includes preparing the German War.

A rough guide to forces i think are needed to take German cities in one go.

Dortmund: 2 Knights, 4 Macemen, 3 Cats

Tartar: 2 Knights, 4 Macemen, 3 Cats

Frankfurt: 3 Knights 4 Macemen, 4 cats.

I think knights right now is overkill, I rather have more macemen and catapults, cavalry was never intended for city assaults.

Again remeber that the knights i am talking about are either built or going to be built (i think one is plan in NOTA after the current build.) also this is the minimal force i think we need, we can always add more macemen to the attacking forces

Here is a map of operations involing the capture of Frankfurt and Tartar

(the numbers are different because i did this picture last night, and have now changed some of the numbers)

1) Our continent is ours. Nobody else is welcome here.

2) Germany first, just because is easier.

3) As soon as possible, and sooner the better. So,it's a tactical decision,
let us ear Warlord about.

4) If "expand" means build more cities, then build only the good ones, never
to feel room. To prevent unwanted intrusion, call the Army. And it looks
better and safer to wipe off the enemy before send meek settlers there.

5) Economy is maintained and increased by careful handling of the cities,
and by not build military things on commerce cities or civilian buildings on
military cities.

Best regards,

I agree that we should finish of Germany soon, they are still weak at the moment, we don't want them to rebuild to a point where conquering them could be a challenge, I've made that mistake in far too many single player games.

Then the next priority should be to fill in the remaining territory on our continent, so as to make sure that the other civs do not gain a beach head. This would also be an ideal time to concentrate on increasing the commerce in our core cities, sustaining the expansion.

On a bit of a side note I'll make sure to mention the high importance of the statue of liberty, we've already seen the great effect of the free specialists of mercantilism, building the statue of liberty will effectively double what we've gained from mercantilism.

This is the strategy, as far as I'm concerned

Rome first, or Germany?
Germany, it's easier

When? Right away, build up some more?
As soon as the warlord gives us the green light (and we have a poll that shows that the citizens agree). I'd say that it should be possible right after donsig's turnchat.

Expand first, or war first? Or both at the same time?
At the same time, basically the war against Germany should only be a matter of moving in and wrapping Bismarck up.

How do we expand and keep the economy going?
The economy is at 50% and running positive, so it's going well IMO

Thats the timetable i am planning with.

It can run at 60% and still be positive!

As soon as the warlord gives us the green light

Do you want us to put up a poll asking when and who to declare war on?

Do you want us to put up a poll asking when and who to declare war on?

I'd say a poll "Should we declare war on Germany immediately? (Yes/No/Abstain)" after donsig TC Game playing session should suffice

I put it up now if thats alright.

Well, then you shouldn't say "Immediately", should you :p

(unless you want to start immediately of course)
