FIRAXIS: Mini-Map In Editor is WAY Overdue

Firaxis, please hurry up with the mini-map in editor. This should be a fairly simple thing for you to implement and really should be regarded as a basic feature in any map editor. We've seen quite a few patches now, yet no mini-map. I'd be really dissapointed if this feature was abandoned just because nobody can be bothered. Some info on if (& when) you intend to include this feature would be much appreciated.

I ususally really dislike the maps created by the random generator, and therefore i like to edit the map before play. This is a nightmare when you cannot see what it looks like overall!!!, especially since there is no zoom in/out function either!

for now, i've stopped playing, and decided to wait for the map editor to be a little more usefull.


-as a side note, i went to the civ3 website to get the new patch, but it's not there, and seems to not exist entirely (except here on civfanatics) whats the deal with that? has the patch been withdrawn to fix some issues with it or something?

To answer your sidenote: For all the other patches there was a delay between when they released the patch and when a link on the civ3.com website showed up. Why this is will probably never be known!

Thanks PaleHorse76, it's good to know the original file i downloaded (from here at civfanatics) is the same as the one thats now up on their website

too right hagbart.


why they can't do something which should be pretty simple baffles me.

the point might be made that few use the editor, however i'd say that almost everyone that uses the editor, would want the mini-map, so therefore if they bothered to include an editor, then they should have a minimap in it.


what would be the legality of someone making a modified version of the editor to include a minimap and distribute? I'm sure there must be at least a few people here with such skill.
