i just started playing pirates a few days ago and haven't been getting much of any sleep. that's left me to dream up a game that plays as a marriage of middle ages civilization and pirates. it's easy enough to imagine, the looting and plundering of pirates (although in an entirely different setting with different ships, play dynamics, etc.), along with the ability to establish a foothold on the lands you terrorize which would branch out into a civilization sort of aspect to the gameplay.

i'd imagine a good level of complexity would be a happy medium between the two games.

anyone else think this would be a great game?

Yes,because one of the main things I have against pirates is that 4 nations are way too little and with spain being an unplayable nation you only really have 3 to play with.

nations would be Danes,norwegians/swedes, england, france, scots, and possibly germany or ireland

It should be flexible so u dont have to play as the vikings

oh, it's easy to play as spain once you install alternative governors in most of their cities and then start taking them back for them.

nations couldn't really be drawn from their present-day counterparts, you'd have to have things like the jutes, picts, britons, saxons, etc.
