I was quite happily playing Civ4(European DVD) all before christmas, but now my drive fails to read the DVD-ROM. It still plays other DVD-Videos and CDs (Except Donnie Darko I now find out). I have a NEC 1100A (Dell installed) with the latest firmware. There are 2 major differences in my system pre and post working; one being the addition of Sony CONNECT and SonicStage the other being Norton 2006 Internet Security. I've tried uninstalling both but still no joy. Any help here?

Yep it meets the Recommended requirements. I tried every fix in the book, though not the fabulous Dell Support recommendation of completely formating my hard drive and re-installing windows (Thanks for the help Dell 
)
Anyway I went and bought a New dirt cheap OEM DVD-ROM drive... and hey presto, no more problems (So far).
