First Look: Macedon with Alex the Great

Just seize the infrastructure of a neighbour. I'm sure they wont mind, its for a good cause after all - all hail glorious Spacedon!
If you capture the spaceport with which the satellite and the moon landing project were done by another civ, do you still have to repeat them yourself? Stupid question, sure you have to. But it would be nice (and exploitable) the other way.

Alex is basically all about conquering every land-accessible player. I think the science boost is intended as a way to stay militarily relevant without a campus or the writing tech early. If it really can be used for a science victory then this just gets more overpowered. I would think they'd make your early era units grant a lot of science and have it taper off with each age.

Bottom line though, short of not having a navy, nothing should stop you from reaching a DV long before the SV is available.

True, true. But it's always fun on repeat playthroughs with a leader to try for victory types that they aren't necessarily suited for, just to see if there are any unexpected ways that their abilities can help you out. Using warmongers to steal everyone else's great works but then leaving their capitals untouched to win a cultural victory is a personal favourite - come to our wonderful museums to view all these incredible works of art that we definitely made ourselves and totally did not loot from the smoking ruins of destroyed cities! :mischief:

I'm sure they will be happy to see him leaving the planet.
I'd happily contribute to sending Alexander into space. He can take Victoria, Tomyris, Gandhi, and Gilgamesh with him. :p

You don't want to finish every game with Macedon in the medieval era or earlier, don't you?

Isn't that what Alexander is all about though? Conquering the whole world in the classical era?

It's kinda rough on China and India; but given for most of their existence they were each pretty much one political entity (especially when compared to Europe); it's very hard to split off any sub group to be their own Civ. Then Macedon potentially sets a precedent there....

Is anybody going to keep us updated in this thread in case they announce anything new? Can't watch the stream..

Edit: Oops, this wasn't supposed to go here. :D

Hypaspists have 36 base strength apparently. Maybe they changed swordsman strength again?

This may just be the scenario. The ability in the scenario is different as well (all cities starting with 2 pop and a granary)

Ed said in the scenario and in the base game.

Round the 21 min mark, if you wanna check it out.
