My biggest problem with Civ 5 was the 1upt and it looks like they're combining a little bit of 1upt and stacking for Civ 6. Hopefully it works.

COMBINED ARMS:
Expanding on the “one unit per tile” design, support units can now be embedded with other units, like anti-tank support with infantry, or a warrior with settlers. Similar units can also be combined to form powerful “Corps” units.

Also, I read somewhere that someone was disappointed the trailer didn't include any gameplay. I was kind of disappointed as well but the steam page currently has 3 screenshots and the graphics look a lot like Civ Rev tbh.

Hopefully the "corps" units aren't too easy to make as super-behemoths - I wonder if it will be like the Army units from 3(?) where you needed a GG to make the army.

Combining support+active makes a ton of sense. Imagine that means you'll be able to have your military support your trade units now. Wonder where they draw the line, though. Do Spearmen count as "support" units as they are the "anti-cavalry" of the classic age, or will they be main units? Will the support units still have traits on their own, or will an anti-tank be completely vulnerable out in the open?

You probably won't be able to make corps until the late game.

Wow, that Steam page makes it look like Civ 5.1. I hope they have more in store than what they describe there.

Edit: Oh yeah, and that stupid 1upt is still there. Don't think the support unit idea will help much. But hey, maybe they will make an AI that can handle 1upt this time around (sure).

I think the corps idea has a lot of promise. Not to be the first one to crap all over CiV in this thread, but 1upt is what really turned me off to the game. Although as a Civ4 player, the word "Corps" is gonna mess me up for months, my brain auto-fills that as "Corporations".

Important business to address: What are we calling this one? CivVI, Civ6, CiVI? :D

I think the "combined arms" approach should go a long way to fixing the issues with 1upt. First of all, it will be great to embed a military unit with a settler so that we can now give the settler some defense without having to manually move a warrior next to it each turn, made awkward by 1upt. For combat itself, there will still be the tactics of 1upt without as much bottlenecking since we can "merge" units together.

The features sound really interesting. Seems like they're trying to incorporate the lessons learnt from Civ5 (map congestion as problem but also how moving more gameplay onto the map adds another layer of decision making to it without appearing overly complex).

However, the screenshots don't leave me impressed. I get that they want a new art style to differentiate it from Civ5's aerial photography inspired map and the art deco look and feel... but this reminds me a lot of CivRev and totally doesn't match the tone of the trailer (which is brilliant). Not quite a fan, despite not minding cartoonish art styles (e.g. Overwatch or XCOM's action figure-inspired designs). Here, it just looks cheap, especially the bloom. I thought we were over bloom a decade ago!

This will be grand.:)

Corps (x2 units) and Armies (x3?) sound similar to the army system of Civ 3. I liked those uber units marching around.

Edit: TheMulattoMaker's memory is better than mine. Forgot about the general system.

Ormiga, as our Civ 6 forum settler, you get to choose the capitol name.
