Fix-It List

I would recumend you get at least another 512mb ram. 2gz if possible. 512mb is way below what I would like in a Vista Pc.
Also the 128 on the graphics crad is, in my opinion, bare bones. 256 should be the nice spot.

I'm having the same problems any one know what to do?

EDIT: I have answered my own question. Apparently there are two versions of the install disks. One will have written on it Disc 1 & 2. These seem to be the ones that will create this issue. The other version have written on them Disc 1/Install and Disc 2/play.

im having the same problem you and cupofgo

You're saying theres two versions (disk1/disk2) and (disk1/install,disk2/play)? which is, i guess, i have the first one stated, if thats what you mean. But what do i do now? i have no idea how to resolve this. can anyone help?

A little off the prev. topic , but if someone can help with this who has had the problem and fixed it ... sweeet

I am trying to play civ 4 multiplayer through the internet.. and i enter my login name and password and it just hangs a sec and nothing happens... firewall and router are all set... i have emailed gamespy and 2k but no response yet. if anyone knows how to correct this problem... or even if its with civ4 itself or a gamespy login problem that would be helpful. Civ 4 gives no error msg or anything just hangs 1 sec. I have seen a couple other people with this problem too.. any help woiuld be appriciated

thanks

Is there anyone with any knowledge of a "Feature transfer error"...?I cant get past the fist 30 sec. of installation before this error pops up.and causes the program to abort.

tirnaog - I'm just running XP, not Vista. At any rate, I tried adding 1GB memory (so now I have 1.5 GB), no solution. Somebody help me with this - it's driving me nuts!

I've included a dxdiag file.

Ok I just bought Civ 4 and when I installed it, i saw no problems until...the game finished loading and once i clicked on done the whole screen turns black and i keep getting this message from ATI saying the driver had to restart. I don't know what's going on...do I need that new patch from the Civ 4 website?

I have a:

eMachines
512 Ram
80 GB
128 MB ATI Radeon 9200 video card
Celeron D Processor

Hey everyone... I'm running CivIV Warlords (the problem has existed the entire time I've had CivIV installed, from the earliest patch release). I have a 1.8GHz AMD with 1GB RAM w/a 512 MB Radeon Video Card. I try to start up CivIV or CivIV Warlords, and it takes about an hour! I run CivIV better on my laptop with 1.2GHz proc & 512MB RAM & a 64MB video card. I've turned on logging, but nothing shows up! It eventually starts up, but I can't figure out why it's taking so long!

" I have a problem when I play Civ4. No matter what settings I use, certain things (icons on cities, city names, population, production and growth times) are obscured by blue rectangles "

i have the same problem with civ 4 and warlords
plz help

I forgot to add, this only happens when I install the 1.61 patch, and well, even if I get a new laptop, (I have the minimum requierements, just a sucky video card) this problem might still happen....

Well, it also says that I might want a lower graphic setting, but it still dosen't work.....

I was so happy I finally got it... it was the last one in the store...
So please help...(It's the patch, probably, from what I've seen, it seems more of a curse than a patch, I hope they get another patch for this patch!)

Oh, and I can't seem to download any of the tweakers....
Here are my specs:

512 RAM
An NVidia GeForce 5200 blah blah blah up to date,
A proccesor of 1500MHz

Also, I'm quite good at computers, just so you know
AND THIS MAKES NO SENSE IN ME HEAD!

Everytime I get on this game I get black screens but as far as I can tell, my specs are up to par:

Windows XP w/SP2
Intel (R)
Pentium (R) 4 CPU 3.00 Ghz
3.00 Ghz, 1.00 Gb of Ram
video card: Nvidia 7800 GS 256 Ram
driver: 81.9

I've turned the resolution down to 800x600 and set everything to medium settings with the AA turned off.

Can anyone explain why the game keeps crashing? The game installed fine and gave me approx 3 hours playing last night but today it goes to a black screen within minutes of logging on and then, i have to reboot in order to get back to my desk top.

I'd really appreciate any feedback.

Amendment to the above entry: I've now installed the newest driver 91.31 and this damn game still crashes.

This is the most disappointing outcome from a widely anticipated game. This company needs to do much better aniticpating the accessbility of a product that consumers will be paying over $70.00 (including tax) for. I'm disgusted and definitely will be returning this product.

Civ4 with the 1.61 patch was working fine. After I installed Warlords this game became very unstable. I have not been able to play a single game through to completion.

I have had the following occur:
Computer suddenly reboots with no error message.
Computer crashes with MS prompt to send message about it to MS.
Screen flashes with black areas all over (can save game, exit to desktop and then reload.

I've been experiencing the same issue as well. Never had a problem with Civ 4 before, this is really dissapointing. If anyone fixes this I will worship you!!

Hey all so I have searched through hundreds of posts and I have yet to find a similiar problem, or maybe my eyes have been so blurred by all these posts that I was not able to find it. So let's start out with my system specs:
Inspiron 9300
-Intel® Pentium® M Processor 760 (2 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB), Genuine Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
-1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm
-256MB NVIDA® GeForce™ Go 6800

So the problem is this: everytime I try to play the game, it gives me the splash screen that says if I wish to play or use the read me file or exit. I hit play and it goes to another splash screen that says loading but stays that way for 5 minutes until a microsoft error screen comes up. I have no idea why. It kills me because this happened quite a bit when I first got the game, then after a few hours it worked until i stopped playing and tried to start the next day. So basically ive only played the game for 3 hours. Now no matter how many times I reinstall the game, use the updated patches (1.61) it still gives me the same issues. I have already tried canceling all background processes, updating windows, and restarting after every install yet it still gives me the same issue. The game works fine on my Gf's comp but not mine. Also, I am not sure about updating the drivers for the video card because every time i try it gives me an error. The comp is 5 months old. Any suggestions? The tech support people just said to delete everything, restart, reninstall, restart, reinstall the patch, restart, cancel all background processes, and play. Didnt work...any ideas?

This question is mildly embarassing, but I have to ask.

I just built a new computer and was going to install CivIV on it, but I can't find where the serial is printed

I preordered the Special Edition and installed it right away, and I can't remember how the hell I did something almost a year ago. I don't see it in or on the slipcover, in or on the black case, in or on the CD slipcase, or on the tech tree, and if it's in the manual I'm just not seeing it.

did the Art Pack Patch instructions change?
I don't have an art0.fpk file (or any other artX.fpk files where x is any number) but I do have Assets0.fpk
I tried the unpack tool on that assets file and it didn't create any files

looks like I'll once again be going back to civ3 with the rar mod.
