All right, thanks to my mom trying to force USB plugs in, two of my USB ports in the front got broken (to the extent that it's not the shape of a normal USB port!), and I hate having to dig around the back every time to plug things in. How easy is it to physically put new ones in? I know a *tiny* bit of soldering from a tech ed course, but probably not enough.

I tried googling but I found only stuff for laptops, which I'm not quite sure applies.

Thanks for answering.

you shouldn't have to solder anything, just buy replacement parts, install them(a philips screwdriver should be all the tools you need), and forbid your mother from using it without supervision:p

if you can provide a picture of the broken ports, maybe we can better understand what you mean by broken. Ive had everything from the plastic insert being broken to the entire socket ripped off from the motherboard.

I can't get a proper picture, but on one of them all the little metal "teeth" got bent or broken or both.

On the other one, some plastic thingy fell out and the "frame" around it is misshaped.

Both of them are still in there, but I can't get the USBs in.

thank you again

In case you're interested, the simplest solution is to purchase a simple USB2.0 hub. Plug it in the back and hang it over the front.
