For those without the game, this is for you

Sorry folks, I've been rather busy and Civ IV is getting really difficult to play later on in the game. But here is an update of what has happened over the last few days:

1980 - Calcutta captured.

1981 - I reached 20,000,000 population.

1984 - I got my first Great Engineer and rushed the U.N.

1985 - U.N. finally built, but elections don't take place until the next turn.

1986 - I was elected U.N. Secretary General.

Year I didn't write down - Delhi conquered.

I took a couple screenshots but forgot to save them, so I lost a pic of a city being bombed, a tank out on the battlefield, and a battleship of mine patrolling the Indian coast. Now, my Photobucket account exceeded its allowed bandwidth so I had to delete some pictures from it, and boom, all the screenies on this thread gone! Well, the best screenies are yet to come!

If you are elected Secretary General, then you have won the game haven't you?

No, being elected Secretary-General and Diplomatic Victory are seperate things. The builder of the U.N. and the nation with the largest, or second largest, population are put us candidates (I ran against Asoka, who the whole world was at war with  ). Then the winner can suggest three resolutions, though one at a time, and after that a new Secretary-General is elected. Amongst the resolution options is to vote for diplomatic victory. I would easily win, up against Asoka, but there are less than 60 turns left before time runs out so I'll wait a while.

So, I got another shot of a bomber bombing Delhi (so I didn't actually conquer Delhi yet, I conquered Madras), but Paint is freaking out so I'll go download another program and then post it. :)

Should upload the pictures onto this website so you dont lose em. You can upload as many as you want.

I'm downloading a trial version of Photoshop now. This is going to take a while, but I will be able to post high quality screenies soon enough. :)

thanks for explaining the UN thing to my, i was still thinking in Civ III style, its pretty cool there are now so much options in the UN.

Sorry i didnt respond. Didnt check here in awhile. After you log in go to the bottom of the page. It will say upload file. Click browse and find the pic and upload it. Then go to the folder and copy the link location and you are all set.

Okay, final update. I've been busy for a while, haven't even checked out Civfanatics or played Civ IV in a couple days. No pics because when I tried downloading a trial version of photoshop, my computer freaked out. Also, the game runs REALLY slow from the industrial era onward, it took me like 10 minutes per turn when I had no units to move. Taking a screenie and saving it once in the industrial era caused my game to crash and my computer to freak out, again. Sorry, I didn't write down the years, but here is what has happened:

- I conquered Delhi, no problem. I also used a spy for the first time, stopped them from producing a cannon. It was really useful.

- Passed the environmentalism civic resolution in the UN, only India abstained.

- Razed a few cities on islands the Indian had built. They were scattered all over the map, real nuisances. Didn't both to write down their names, I just razed them anyway.

- Conquered Bangalore. Total pushover, they had like two longbowmen defending.

- Actually lost a battle, at Kolhapur. They had about 4 marines and attacked my invasion force, and something like 18 riflemen. My force was slaughtered. I was planning on conquering India for the fun of it then winning a diplomatic victory, but I guess I'll go for the diplomatic victory right away.

- India and China are on a very interesting continent, full of lakes and peninsulas and isthmuses. Rather than facing certain death down south (the anti-stack of doom barrages are really troublesome when there is 1 tile to walk down), I send what's left of my army north. I use tanks and choppers mostly, I got tired of having to follow my infantry at a snail's pace. I conquered Calcutta, but again almost lost my entire army.

- I just go for the diplomatic victory, and win easily. I was up against Napoleon, but got both other votes (Inca and China).

The anti-stack of doom barrages! hmm... that just has a great ring to it...
the anti-stack of doom barrages!
how about we abv. it as TASOF
the anti-stack of doom!
I will never get tired of saying that
the anti-stack of doom barrages!
It even better when your say it like like Gandi
Da antI-stack of DOom barrajEs!
sorry I should shut up now...

Sorry to bump and old thread, but Pbhead, just . You're just hilarious.

Long live TASOF!
