Maybe I'm missing something here (it wouldn't surprise me :) ), but...

The Civilopedia states quite clearly that clearing a forest will return 10 shields to the nearest controlling city. So why is it that in my current game it quite frequently doesn't, and the only effect is to remove the forest icon from the screen...!?

Before you ask:
YES the square is within a city radius
YES there are rail/roads connecting it to the city square
YES the square is currently being worked

Is there something else or is this just ANOTHER F**KING BUG !??!

How the hell else do I get my useless, irretrievably corrupted cities to build anything if I can't continually re-forest & clear!?

Soon I may lose my temper completely

I believe they changed this in that you can only recieve the 10 shields one time per cleared forest tile, in patch 1.17.

Personally, i don't get what the obsession with having far flung productive cities is. Its obvious Firaxis didn't intend far flung cities to be churning out units/improvements. Is this historically accurate? Its debatable, but the general consensus is no. Gameplay comes way before historical accuracy in my book. Wouldn't it potentially unbalance the game, making the ICS the dominant strategy? Maybe it was like this in civ2 and players are having trouble adapting? I wouldn't know since this is my first civ game. :)

You have your core cities, to which the fringe is connected to the FP, providing maximum production. Everything else is just to hold luxuries or to create a beach head.

Now this isn't directed specifically at you, just thinking out loud since corruption complaints are fairly common. :)

The "only harvest a forest ONCE" - that in a game that last 6,000 years - is one of the more RIDICULOUS aspects of the hated 1.17 patch.

:crazyeye:

But it is less RIDICULOUS than lumberjacking where you cut and replant the forest every turn.

Is it any more ridiculous tham gold mines that can last 6,000 years without being exhausted? Or grassland that can be worked for 6,000 years without needing to be left fallow occasionally?

Has anyone around here heard of "sustainable forestry" ???

ok....enough complaining, either answer the question or keep quiet.
