Forums crash firefox

So you have lag when typing a post, or filling in other input forms? Then the issue is NOT with your connection, as filling in forms happens on your own pc, and can even be done when your connection has dropped (in case you loaded the page before the connection dropped of course).
You got it partly right, and partly wrong. I can type away at any other site just fine. The lag is only one example of the experience with this site. Other sites load just fine. This site is inordinately slow loading, refreshing, returning to previous pages. This site. Not other sites. And other people, as previously stated, on completely different hardware/os combinations are also having problems. The only two known common factors are FireFox and CivFan. It’s not my connection, or my Mac, any more than it’s someone else’s Vista. Make a chart if it helps. Look at it. See what everyone who has reported problems with this site and FireFox have in common. Then offer a suggestion for a solution.

I installed adblock to see if it was the flash, but it is still crashing. Also, I've been using Vista since Beta 1, and firefox with it. You'll notice that I've been on these forums since Dec 2005, and in all of that time, I've never had a problem until now. The only thing that has changed between now and the last time I came here is that now there are the advert redirect pages. It seems to crash before the redirect is completed, because I never see any redirect advert pages, I only see the browser go down when I try to access the forums.

Even AdBlock Plus doesn't help. Every few page accesses firefox dies. I don't have this problem on any other website.

I think I got rid of my lag problem. I don't use AdBlock at all; but I do use NoScript. Wracking my brain about the lag, I remembered that it started shortly after my most recent update of NoScript. Searching around this afternoon I discovered the Mozilla site is one update behind. After installing the latest update directly from the NoScript site the lag is completely gone. I have no idea why it was only affecting this site, but at least it seems to be resolved.

Good luck, Deja on solving the crash problem, if what worked for me doesn't help.

Hm... well, NoScript seems to have helped, thus far. We'll see if it keeps up.
