Founding Cristianity Immortal

Try posting a game and let's see how the strategy works. A starting immortal save with (No huts or events) would be good.

Here is a save where i succesfully pulled it off thanks a goldresource.

775BC Theo seems like a quite weak date. I was going to play a quick run to Theo myself for comparison, but then I bumped into a hut and got the wheel on T2. No point comparing approaches if huts are on...

If you want to compare approaches, then post a game without huts/random events and add starting save + your own Theo save. No need for a huge map for this, standard size is faster but in terms of gameplay exactly the same.

And yes, whipping is by far more efficient than working mines early in the game, especially once you have a granary. Whipping vs. slowbuilding settlers depends on the map. With enough food, whipping is usually better.

OKay that was an save before this discussion. So here is the new one without huts and events.
I suggest everyone who tries post their empire at turn 100 and what turn they founded cristianity. That way we also see how much empiredevelopment that had to be sacrificed to get crist. Also post techorder and techtrades.

Theology and AP are not things I would prioritize on Immortal.

As for maintaining an economy with going for priesthood:

- Any key worker tech depending on BFC resources
- Myst > Medi > Priesthood > Writing
- Build libraries and run scientists.

Works even better with Gilgamesh as you start with agri and wheel, so remake maps till you have two farm resources, and you also get ziggurats added in.

As for your approach to getting theology first, on Immortal you would want to pick a different leader that can somehow benefit from going that tech route, its something I do often with Justinian to get Theocracy and Vassalage prepped for a cataphract domination.

There's always the Suleiman Gunpowder rush :) Oracle Theo, bulb Paper and Edu, tech GP for Jans. Of course that's mostly just a novelty rush because muskets are still pretty mediocre no matter how much you dress them up.

Or bulb Theo, oracle Paper. ;)

civtilidy, I had a look at the second start you posted. Huge map, low sealevel, no vassals, PA on and locked modified assets so I can't even use BUG... :( In addition the starting area speaks very heavily against rushing to Theo and AP in my opinion. That would simply be a bad strategy in that situation. You would have to sacrifice way too much to get there in time.

Im not sure if anyone(or the OP more importantly) is still reading this but with 100ish posts you seem newish to the forum so id thought id direct you in an interesting angle, if you like the religious style games and getting the AP stuff, you might think about looking thru some of the old threads about HOF style AP victories. I stumbled on them when i was trying to get a win in each category but couldnt get a diplo/religous win and didnt understand how they worked, im not sure if it was in vanilla or an old patch because i never finished getting the religious victory but i will try this out when i have time to complete a game.

google something like "AP CHEESY WIN" its interesting stuff to read even if it seems a little cheesy, like a praet win on deity etc. If you do manage to get to theocracy first, or any of the later religions like taoism, or even islam it can be a way for you to win a game that is unwinnable any other way, and may allow you to beat the clock if you're racing against a space shuttle mansa on another continent. Its sort of cheating.. but whatever

the idea is to get the AP in a religion that noone will ever convert into, that way you're the only one who is ever eliglbe for victory. Then you spread your religion around enough to get enough votes without spreading it so much that people switch into it. That way none of them vote for themselves or for eachother with a 2x multiplier on their votes. The best part is, you dont even have to stay in the religion the ap was built in to do it, because you dont need double votes per pop to win, so you can switch into their religions/civics to get them to friendly or whatever by gifting techs and cities. Im not sure on the math or if it still works but ill check it out, as ive only ever won religious vc by accident it will be interesting.

/e im goign to play through this hopefully today, i think it may even be useful to fully convert one of them, but to make sure its somebody nobody likes. The aggravating part about getting an ap win for a normal player is the ai almost always votes for himself even if theyre friendly, and often times the other AI's will have +4/+6 peaceweights compared to you making it near impossible to get a fair win.

AP was introduced in BTS. AP diplomatic win is not possible in vanilla or Warlords.

thx for clarifying that, I didnt know :P I got bts fairly quickly after starting, and its been a long time :P bts really was a great expansion, its one one of the few where id never really consider going back even for a little while. Often times theres an incentive to stay with the old game but they really did manage to fix and add a ton of good stuff while retaining the whole "civ" feel. Very little reason to complain :P
