Remember the cook? Well, after he was discharged from the army, he went back with his plundered gold from the Chinese war, and became a successful businessman. With unprecedented wealth, he managed to groom his son to be an excellent politican, whom later seized power when he was elected the Chancellor of Germany.
His first job was to check why Alexander refused to stop trading with Louis ...
Huh? You must be kidding me. You would not stop trading with Louis because you "would not betray your friend" whom you would gladly declare war on? ... ... what a jerk!
The Cook's Son later led the mighty German Empire to the learning of Steam Power:
Railroading was promptly selected to allow for faster troops movement and better production yields.
The Cook's Son was puzzled by the presence of some very old workboats. "Why do we still have these things? They belong to the museum!" ... and he promptly destroyed them.
With nothing better to do, he started knockin on Loius door:
Hello, this is the Cook's Son. My father told me you owe him some money when he stole some German sausages for you when we were fighting the Chinese together.
Pay up, buster.
Thank you, have a nice day.
Louis would never had guessed how this money was used ... upgrading the catapults to cannons which comes promptly knocking on Louis's door again some 6 years later:
Hello, Dear Sir. Its me again. Hope you did had a nice day since we last met ... cos you won't have any more!
And that's the teaser: We declare War when our golden age ends. I did mention something like this in the teaser, right? Right?
Alex, our buddy, of-course still refuses to "betray" his friend (i.e. stop trading with Louis). But there are other ways to ensure french troops would have a hard time moving through Alex's lands to get to our less protected cities:
The Cook's Son, being better educated than his father in matters of warfare, managed to capture two cities within a 3 years siege.
The battle for Tours was a bit more difficult, as the Germans forces found themselves under heavy French resistance and cannon firepower:

The battle front at 1820:

On the other news:
We had a great engineer:
I sent him to the Capital to await further orders.
- We have another Great Artist sleeping in Dusseldorf, as I don't think the cultural bomb would be effective. As it is, Dusseldorf don't even has enough pops to work on its own tiles. Maybe next player can use the Great Artist to bring captured city out of revolt?
- I have several freshly built troops with goto orders. They are obviously heading for the frontlines.
- I have also built us a few missionories to help in funding the war machine. We have both shrines, so please spread Confused and Wayist to all cities (incidentally, both are oriental religions in RL ... hmmm). These missionaries also has goto order as well.
- I have learnt us constitution, so let's start building houses for those reblious German citizens to stay if they dare protest against our righteous war.

Now, here is a puzzle for players who are trying to be special: where did I hide the save?
A free "Trying-to-Be-Special" T-Shirt to whoever that can find it.

Edit: corrected uncountable typo and grammar mistakes
Addition: To prevent rex from using the mischievously hidden save as an excuse to delay playing ...

Thanks Rex. Then I had best work out what's up then. I couldn't see them at work but that not suprising as I often can't see them at work. Can't access gotm.civfanatics.net at all but that's another story. Normally can see the pics at home though and when I press reply and cut and paste his links they load no problem.... strange.
Gotta love the smell of gunpowder in the morning....nice work, Son O'Cook. Looks like a replay of the Franco Prussian War. Soon they'll be roastin' rats in gay Paree!
After a bit of , I've worked out why I couldn't see the pics and can now see Grey's report in all it's glory. It had to do with filters in adblock if you really care.
To at least post something on topic, good stuff GreyFox. Has WW started at all for this war?
Yes, it has. Based on memory, Karakorum is unhappy, and some of the ex-Chinese cities are unhappy saying some nonsense about being upset abt us fighting Hindu brothers. I suggest building some house with rooms separated by metal bars and see how upset they are then.
For that matter, we have yet to built the Globe Theatre. I suggest building it in either the production powerhouse, or the commerce supreme city.
Hey guys. Are we playing this war for keeps or for rubble? Fox kept a couple of close cities, but I didn't know what you wanted done to the rest of France. Honestly, we're a long way from domination (34% land) and I'm pretty bored with it ATM.
Is that our chosen route, or can I interest anyone in simlpe, good-spirited genocide?
If we go conquest, I don't think it's in our best interest to take many french cities, unless we build a secondary capital somewhere over there.
We have no need for the other continent to get domination I think. Doing conquest or domination is the same in this game I think. Except for we push the top or bottom button.
I would however not mind a peacefull space end with alex of all people as our friend... Alex, who would have guessed that?
Heh heh, don't count your chickens before the eggs are even laid, postman! If you look at FFA01, ChrTh and I were happily whacking the remaining civ, with Alex prefectly happy with us (sharing the same religion, fight the japs and monty togather) and he promptly declared on us.
Look at him now, I mean. He claimed he would not betray his friend by canceling trade with Louis, but he is prefectly happy go to war at a chea cheap price of Military Traditions.
Mark my word, we have to get him to war with us when we attack Asoka too, because if we don't, Asoka would bride him to war with us.
Orelans, the city under heavy naval bombing goodjob: I like this Grey), has Versailles and hanging gardens and is home to the jewish community. So we'd rather keep it
We didn't build the forbidden palace . Maybe in the late JC lands. With Versailles and FP, maintenance should be held low
On the matter of putting people behind metal bars, what about making this empire a giant jail and go police state if things go real naughty. Just don't know if this is more effective than culture slider
Concerning dom vs conquest, I don't think we are that far from domination. we are 38% and french cities taken by grey are still in revolt and don't count. Once we've finished with the frogs meal (see I'm not touchy ), we'll be above 50%. And if by chance, Louis settles some island before we finish him, we can let him be so the dom treshold is not raised up again.
OTOH, Conquest could be fun. Add that I suspect you Rex to have some personal vendetta against Alex
Definitely vote for conquest. I've had too many dominations (Fox not included) lately. And my personal vendatta list keeps growing. Kahn 1 and Kahn 2 are permanent residents. Alex is usually on there. JC too.
Mansa's on my kill for the fun of it list. Gandhi, too. No vendatta against those guys, but it's a whole lot of fun to pillage towns down to plains with cavalry.
