Fox-05: The RNGod Strikes Back

yuks, problem of cutting-n-pasting haunts me yet again .... and damned, you guys have the time to nit-pick on my postings and no time to actually play !!!! :gripe:

I played. It took me over 3 hours to do that playing/writeup! :scan:

Official Explanation (originally written last July):
--Warlords by itself doesn't seem worth it to me. At some point in the near future, the number of Vanilla SGs would drop, and since I was getting tired of running them (more on that in a sec), it was going to get harder to find good ones to play.

--The time factor. I was spending too much time in front of the PC (as is always the case with Civ ;) ) ... and it's getting harder to run games with the dropouts and undesirables hanging around (more on them in a sec too). In the end though I was spending too much time with Civ (either playing or here) and there are several other things I've got upcoming I really should concentrate on [Update note: this included scion-creation, which is near fruition!].

--Civ 4's popularity. Ugh. The membership in CivFanatics has plummeted horribly since Civ 4 came out. The game was so popular it attracted the worst type of players out there, so now we're forced to deal with constant 'where's Hitler?' and 'this game sucks' and 'which Civ should be in there' threads. I liked the site a lot better before Civ 4.

So by waiting for Civ 4 Complete, I hope to be taking care of all of these problems. I won't have to invest in Warlords, things should be squared away on the home front, and all the annoying people will have moved on to the next big thing.

To start off again, I rolled a 3 (i.e. Learn a tech) for my personal objective. Not too bad, I hope.

On the war front, this is Prince difficulty right? How the heck did we get out military by the AI? :eek: You guys need to stop reading/posting on this thread and concentrate on your game!!!

Well, we're not getting anywhere with this war, so I decided 10 turns of peace is warranted for some military build up. So I did this

We spawned a GE. I couldn't decide on what to do with him, so I left him sleeping in Beijing.

At the end of my set, Kublai demands Machinery. Since we will be re-declaring on him very soon, I sent him packing.

Frankly, it was funny the first time I heard it, sort of funny the 2nd thru 400,000th but not funny after that.
 
Turns played ... hmmm ... somehow I mis-counted our tribal objective since my turns remaining count and the sign posted by someone doesn't agree. I think I forgot to take into account ruff played 5 turns less ... so I guess we have 5 more turns for that one. Doesn't matter, I think we can achieve this one.

Anyway, that is jumping the gun a bit .... back to the beginning.

Personal objective is to do it in a sit-up position ... hmmm, interesting. Never tried that!

Heh, if you didn't do this, I would've anyway. However, there are some negative aspect abt this. First, this hurts our economy ... we are officially in the red at 0%. :eek: Secondly, as evident from the screenie above, if you are not too distracted by the double read thingy, you should see Khan feature the long-nosed beast ... I was compelled to tell the elephant-meet-camel-joke, but then I remember no more jokes for you guys, plus you guys probably heard it if not from me then someone else anyway ... so I digress!

I managed to fend off his catapult (which withdrew) and kill a keshik. So here is the situation at nanjing:

I of-course did not only defend, but played some offensive as well. Afterall, we are still one-city short for the tribal objective.

I suggest the next player try to take the eastmost city next turn ... that will bring in some gold, and also we definitely would lost some troops overcoming that longbow, so it will cut our troop-support cost.

I also suggest that we sell our horse or banana to HC for the needed gold.

As for our latest goal, options are Engineering (44 turns), Theology (24 turns), Philosophy (31 turns).

We have this fellow lying about, so I think Engineering it is. Excellent, I've blown 2 GPs this turnset already and I've only played 3 turns.

Kublai won't talk yet, so we can't get peace. We're still at -ve gpt at 0%. Luckily CoL came in this turn as well so some whipping of courthouses is about to occur.

The war with Kublai goes on. I stare at Old Sarai for ages trying to decide whether to keep or not. We can't really afford it but horses, rice, cows, dye is too good to give up. We keep it.

Engineering is in with 385 turns left, therefore we have 44 turns left. I put us on Philosophy.



We pop a GA in Beijing (must have been really low odds). He will pop Music or we could culture bomb Nanjing. I leave it to others to decide.

The was still goes on (mainly because Kublai still won't talk). I again agonise over this city but keep it as it has 5 resourses.



We meet Mehmed. I notice he doesn't have Music or Drama. Pop goes the GA (that's 3 now) hoping that I can trade it to him. I of course, don't realise he doesn't have Literature either so we can't :mad:



However, I notice that Music allows Notre Dame, so we've completed our goal. Of course, I realised that all the time :blush:



I've played 10 turns so I'm bailing now.

Next person needs to roll a new tribal objective straight away.

We may want to switch research from Philosophy to Civil Service.

Okay, my elbow is gving me large jolts of pain, and as I generally type (aand live) off my that arm, this wil be short.

I also stopped a turn or two short...but, things are dire in all ways.

I rolled a Tribal of give 6 cities a religion in 45 turns, easy enough.

I was able to do two by the end of the turn set, and we need a prophet...

Our army got decimated taking Beshablik, so much so it solved our cash flow issue. The Fist of the RNGod sorta got crushed, and they spawned a GG which I later killed.

Anyway, I switched to Tao (pleased with Capac) for realtions, we may want to switch back asap.

I'd take the city NE of Besh and call a truce, we NEED markets and courts and everything else if we want to avoid a horrible loss.
