A university study says so!!

Who’s Fair and Balanced?: Fox News Channel’s coverage was more balanced toward both parties than the broadcast networks were. On FOX, evaluations of all Democratic candidates combined were split almost evenly – 51% positive vs. 49% negative, as were all evaluations of GOP candidates – 49% positive vs. 51% negative, producing a perfectly balanced 50-50 split for all candidates of both parties.

On the three broadcast networks, opinion on Democratic candidates split 47% positive vs. 53% negative, while evaluations of Republicans were more negative – 40% positive vs. 60% negative. For both parties combined, network evaluations were almost 3 to 2 negative in tone, i.e. 41% positive vs. 59% negative.

There. Not a collection of YouTube links, not heresay, but an actual study says FoxNews really is fair(est) and balanced. How do you Fox haters respond to that, eh? ;)

The question is not how balanced the evaluations are, nor how many, but how much they affect. That they can't study.

But I don't hate Fox, because they send the Simpsons here

It's not a university study.

"The Center for Media and Public Affairs is a media research organization that uses scientific content analysis to study news and entertainment media content. CMPA is affiliated with the George Mason University, where CMPA President Dr. S. Robert Lichter is Professor of Communications."

It may be 'fair and balanced' for the numbers you quoted.. but that's very specific stuff..

What about all the other BS they show on that channel?
The same as any other channel. Why is Hannity and Colmes sometimes used to show how unfair Fox News is when Crossfire over at CNN has been around for a heck of a lot longer and does the same thing? Everybody with a brain knows that particular show is not a news show at all, but rather a show of opposing opinions.

Crossfire has been off the air for a long time and they all ways had those pricks Novack ( who should be jailed for treason) and Carlson.

If it is not news it should not claim to be "the no spin zone" gimme a brake

The only part of Fox News that has that claim is Bill O'Reilly's show. That's his catch phrase.

Regarding Crossfire, it used to be, WAY back, Pat Buchanan and Michael Kinsley. That's when it was good.

Hey, wait a minute. I thought universities were bastions of liberalism and libruls were bad, mmmkay? So why are you quoting some liberal godless study to prove some point of yours? It seems odd.

It's like Nixon going to China. If some socialist breeding ground like a university actually has to admit that Fox News is the fairest around, it's gotta be true.

Well, the results of this poll regarding the "issue-orientation" of the coverage are at odds with numerous others, but regarding the partisan split, I've read the actual report for a study that showed the "mainstream media's" perceived liberal bias in this election cycle is based almost solely on unusually positive coverage for Barack Obama, and unusually negative (in terms of his likelihood of success, at least a week ago -- since lord knows all political coverage in the USA is "horse-race" style, rather than about the actual issues) coverage for John McCain. If you removed those two candidates, the coverage on the major networks was even.

The CMPA is also a conservative outfit. It claims to be "non-partisan", but it's almost entirely funded by conservative foundations -- "wingnut welfare" as it's been called -- Carthage, Scaife, Olin.

I don't need a study to tell me what Fox News is: I watch it and can see: it's the propaganda wing of the GOP.

That said, I owe Fox news a debt of gratitude for being so blatantly biased that it alerted me to bias elsewhere. CNN is the Jane Fonda network, for example.

A wise layman gets news from as wide a variety of sources as possible. At one time I had subscriptions to Rolling Stone and Readers' Digest. That's diversity! Here in Dubai we get Al Jazeera in English, but I 'm afraid I am not THAT broad-minded. Besides, Mrs Dubai threatens bodily harm if I so much as pause on that channel. From what I have seen, for all the world it looks a lot like FOX!

Forget the studies, do YOU actually, honestly believe in your heart of hearts that Fox News is fair and balanced? Really?
