France - Catherine de Medici Thread

I don't know about that. I do know that I don't buy Civ games based on who the leader of America is. They could make America's leader Benedict Arnold and I'd still buy the game just to play the other leaders.

Herbert Hoover of the American Civilization!!!

Yeah I'd still get it. People are being silly.

Biggest personality I can think of to lead America - Mae West! She matches up well with the Film Studio, too. ;)

There are some more details on France´s Features in this article:

1) Chateaux not only grant culture and extra bonuses for being near wonders, but gold for being placed next to a luxury resource as well

2) The toursim bonus for wonders is worth twice the normal amount of tourism points civs normally receive per wonder

3) It says that the Garde Impériale´s combat bonus on the French home continent is, and I quote, "very significant" making them "unequalled" in both the Renaissance and Industrial era

I also posted some more details on China´s features in the China thread (they are now quantified!!). The info is coming from the same website, go check it out!

1-So the district puzzle gets even more interesting for France, glad they kept the Chateaux related to luxuries.

2)Now I'm hoping that Egypt and China are my neighboors when playing France so I can use my...

3)Garde Impériale better be as good as they say to open a large window of oportunity to goble up everything in sight.

Has anyone else noticed she looks very different in the still version of the video?

What I mean is the thumbnailed version where she is facing to the left arms crossed. She has a much more round face with like a dimpled chin, closer to Victoria really. However, in the video itself (with the wine glass) she is very gaunt with a more pointed chin.

Yes but its because she is looking up and to her left in the still. The magic of lighting

The central thing with the Chateau is whether it will affect city growth. That's why it was awful in BNW... you wanted food more than anything else, and rather than give a chateau +1 food and the gold and culture, they didn't add food. Ergo, it was awful.

In Civ VI, these maps don't show a lot of farms, so it's plausible that a Chateau is actually powerful now, or at least not a sacrifice to use. One certainly hopes so, anyway.

A past article described how farms would dominate the map until the Medieval Era when you start replacing them with neighborhoods for housing. Presumably, this is when Chateaux come into play; when farms are less valuable than certain other improvements.

Ha, absolutely no way. Not that France is all that important of a market for the game anyways.

France is not an important market? I take I that comes from your insider knowledge, no? France is a more important market for video games than Brazil, which itself is a big enough market to warrant including Brazil in the game as posed to the Incas. It is a bigger market for videogames than Russia as well. Only 6 countries generate more video game revenue than France. Interesting, according to that list, Brazil has the fourth largest internet population in the world. I imagine it is a very important market for forward-thinking game companies.

Probably plenty of people wealthy enough to have Internet, but unlikely to be able to afford things like high spec computers and video games in such large numbers.

Yes, exactly, but from everything I've read it won't stay that way. Brazil is one of the fastest growing video game markets in the world (alongside India) and in 5-10 years it will likely be much higher on that list. Hence forward-thinking.

Japan, USA, Canada, South Korea and all the western European countries have already reached their saturation point for the video game market.

Good point. China's huge population means it still has a lot of room for growth. Indonesia and Mexico are probably also countries that will eventually rise through the the ranks in terms of economy, and therefore video game market size.
