@ Winter: Austria was not a kingdom in that times but an arch duchy. The Habsburger were Emperor of Germany, Arch dukes of Austria and Kings of Bohemia (among other titles like King of Jerusalem)
Prussia (East and West Prussia) was part of the HRE in the times of emperor Frederic II. of Hohenstaufen (NOT Frederic the Great of Prussia!!!). Times changed and it was not longer part of the Reich. This lasted until the times of the German Federation, where it was part of from about 1848 to 1850 and then from 1867 in the North German federation. BTW Prussia, East and West, was in that times mostly inhabited by Germans (East more than West).

Where you're right, you're right! My mistake. Yes, it was Friedrich I, King in Prussia and Friedrich II, King of Prussia.

However the Holy Roman Emperor was not "King of Austria", he was Erzherzog of Austria, King of Bohemia, Markgraf of Moravia, King of Hungary, and much more. An endless litany of titles bestowed on the Habsburg rulers... after all, their home lands were one of the most diverse territories in Europe. Amazing their empire lasted as long as it did!

Winter, the state Prussia consisted of many provinces. There only 2 of them were not within the borders of the HRE. These provinces were the original Prussia. And THIS Prussia I meant. The whole state Prussia however what developed out of Brandenburg was ever within the German borders, except these 2 provinces. That´s correct. But because Prussia, I mean the duchess, was out of the HRE, Prussia could become kingdom. This was otherwise not possible. Bohemia was an exception because it was already kingdom, when it entered the Reich.

At the time of the Seven Years War, the HRE emperor was not archduke of Austria, but the empress was.
