The America’s Army game blends two vivid simulations: Soldiers, a role-playing portion in which players navigate life’s challenges to achieve goals, and a first-person action game,
called Operations.

Developed by the U.S. Army and a world-class team of Department of Defense experts in simulations and virtual environments, America's Army will be available in August. The Army will distribute America’s Army for *free* in response to requests at America's Army and GoArmy.com, through distribution partners that include leading computer game magazines, at Army events, at recruiting stations, and through internet download. The game is rated “T” for Teen by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board.

Anticipating large-scale distribution this summer, the Army unveiled the game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the computer and video games industry’s major convention in Los Angeles.

I just saw it on CNN.

Its going to be an online game..so teams will possible.The game will objective based so you don't go around like Murder Inc in this one.It will have a "T" rating also.

This could be interesting.

I like the age ranges...the same as the requirements for joining the Army....the good thing is that the US Army allows non-residents join.

I heard about it in PC Gamer. I was sure when they were joking when I heard something about "government run servers". Yeah, like those are going to be up for long.

Looks quite good but there are already plenty of counterstrike clones and having more objectives is unlikely to stop the majority of games being won, by killing all the enemy.

The screenshots look a bit Cstrike-esque, but I'm sure the realisticity (sp?) of the weapons and gameplay will make the difference. Looks kewl.

Its getting punked by people like philippe who can play for 72 hours straight that caused me to give up on Counterstrike
And the rampant cheating didn't help.

i hate cheating in counter strike.so i only go to servers with anti cheat (cheating death,cs-guard,hl-guard)
in the patch 1.4 you can now choose to filter servers with anti cheat

I personally think that these graphics look better than any of the Half-Life mods released so far, and I play those quite often. It resembles Firearms (great mod ) but the realism seems even better than that.

If they make something like Ghost Recon that forces you to use advanced tactics and strategies, but make it fun and accessible, it will be an extremely awesome game.

I'd imagine that it would be a Rainbow Six-type game. Made by the military, after all. Still, what is the goal of this game? Is Uncle Sam trying to be Mr. Miyamoto?

Defeating terrorist seems the point of this game...and I hope it is going to be like more rain6 than TO. I like one shot one kill.

You can kill someone on TO with one shot if you target them correctly in the head. Its just that some people are not good enough so they never get headshots...
