Freedom of debate

The right is only too willing to falsely accuse those critical of current capitalism
of being socialists or communists or unamerican etc and cancel culture them.

With all the new restrictions on freedom of speech put in place by 1st World countries I fear if we, as multiple societies, aren't loosing the freedom to debate as well.

I am reminded of Charlie, sure his ideas on a number of subjects were horrifying, at least for me, but I am also sure he never got on the stage and directly pointed fingers saying "you that is X or Y and does W or Z should just drop dead for the benefit of society".
In this sense I believe he never went, truly, too far with is freedom of speech and so another form to curtail his ideas from spreading was found...killing him shows that beyond freedom of speech being at risk we a have a risk of loosing our freedom to debate ideas without dogmas or taboos.

And I wonder if forbidding debate is the right thing to do by democracy.
Is shutting other's opinion on a matter really the right thing to do to protect others sensibilities?
Won't this give rise to more extreme views from folks who find their voice silenced?

The World is possessed by a great demon spirit. It needs to be bound, divided into smaller pieces, and sent back to whence it came. Or else the egregore will grow and grow until nothing is left.

Nothing you see nowadays is a coincidence, don't trust people's responses in trying to dismiss this or blame on side more than the other.

I was snippy with you earlier because you came in and said
I don't care for this framing because of its use by right, for reasons I've already stated. Ostracism is not unique to any group of humans. Mass media and later social media made its reach greater, but for years I've seen right-wing politicians/media try to pin it all on the other side while engaging in it themselves, and worse.
I appreciate the change to a more civil dialogue. Understand that the use of it by the right was my only frame of reference at this point. I’m sure you had a similar experience when you were on the anti-SJW path prior to having the veil uncovering the wizard before you.

The breaking points for me were more gradual. First it was the “woke right” or Christian Nationalists who infiltrated gaming spaces, rehashing talking points from Jack Thompson under a veneer of progressivism (see Collective Shout) once Trump came into office for his second term. The second was Trump using the FCC to cancel Jimmy Kimmel, the total disregard of the concept of innocence until proven guilty and the presumption of innocence, and Trump banging the “video games cause violence” drum. In my perspective, it displayed to me the hypocrisy of the right with their willingness to utilize tactics they condemned when the left did it to them for a good period of time.

While it may be considered ancient history by Internet standards. I still recall when the right under Bush Jr’s Administration censored the Dixie Chicks (prior to the coinage of “cancel culture”).

What do we call uglifying the feminine in games?

You call it a weird claim by dudes with the mentality of children who want ice cream for breakfast every day.

It’s still a Civilization forum. Finding anyone attractive that makes it to the top of the political food chain is going to be a challenge.

Cis women don't exist to be ogled dude
Cis women pixels you mean?

Civ VI's Cleopatra and Jadwiga come to mind regarding the adjective attractive.

Poor character modellers and animators most likely.
If you don't follow gaming news blogs you might be inclined to say that.
Look at Japanese, Korean, Chinese designed games and compare their feminine designed with western and you'll get a better picture of what i mean with uglifying.
You don't even have to go past facial design.
Now go check for playable obese men pixels.

I find it curious that you think there's a clear dividing line between irl cis women and how they're portrayed in media.
I firmly believe in that! Beside I am talking about video-game pixels not sex-workers in porn...where are you aiming at with this?
Do you find it curious that despite the fact that I'll never look as good as Cristiano Ronaldo, that I can appreciate the form and physique and I can even feel some pride?

Side note: I live here so I see a lot of ads for them. If women had those kinds of …proportions… in real life they’d be as helpless as an upside-down turtle.
I think it was Stellar Blade which was accused of having an unrealistic sexualized body "that could only be imagined by someone who has never seen a real woman" for the heroine, before the studio revealed that said unrealistic body was actually an exact replica of the real-life model from 3D capture.
