I've played regent a few times, with space victory, and culture victory, I playing a domination/conquest game right now and that isn't giving me problems, so next game will probably be Monarch

Regent, I don't like to give the computer too many advantages.

I have started playing on Emperor, now I just have to get better at keeping up in tech. :D

Keeping up in Tech isnt all that hard, its keeping a strong (at least stable) economy for me

Right now I am keeping up, I just have to try hard to beat the AI to certain techs so that I will actually have something to trade for their techs.

I can play Monarch with relatively few problems and sometimes do when I want a challenge, and I could probably struggle through Emperor, but I usually play Regent. It just feels more relaxing and I'm a very laid back guy.

I had problems with winning on Monarch, but I moved to Emperor recently (thanks to CFC, especially reading SG threads).

demigod, its not too hard and its not too easy either. thing about deity and sid that bores me is the ancient era. the free units the ai gets really annoys me. have won on both deity and sid however. Deity used to be my preferred difficullty, but meh, it's no fun being so ridicoulsy weak in 4000 BC.

Monarch here. I play regent in scenarios though.

I've almost won my first Monarch game as the Sumerians, planning to try Emperor next game.

I'm competitive, so I never play low level games anymore.

I just won diplomatically as Diety! :D Anywho, never played Sid, dont want to

I voted Warlord but I've been experimenting a bit with Regent on the Conquest scenarios(which are great!) and I find it to my liking, will probably play next normal game on Regent, and even though I still have plenty to learn, I've had enough of Warlord. :D

Emperor scares me
lol
It's not that bad. It just forces you to begin to break all of those bad habits that build up from the lower levels. :)
Just try it... you know you want to...

I can win any regent game, and it's fun.

Monarch is fun and challenging, and I usually win, unless I get an awful starting position.

I am now playing emperor and holding my own most of the time. That may be easily misunderstood. I've only played a few times, and those recently. But...it isn't as fun as Monarch or Regent. It can be quite taxing on my little pea brain, so when I want to relax I play on an easier level.

I usually play Monarch difficulty (voted Monarch) although I am really wanting to move up to Emperor. I think (at least) a few more games to go yet on Monarch before I am ready for the next difficulty.

When I am wanting an easier game, I'll play Regent.

Demi-god was voted by me although it is never played by me. A combination of Emperor and Deity is played by me, with the occasional mixing up of things provided by a Monarch game or a Sid game.

For some reason, Demi-god was never played by me.

Hi Breunor.

Try out my strategy: Winning on Deity Builder style, step-by-step. It's on my signature. Guaranteed win (well, with some practice that is ;) ). It's devised for Deity Noobs.

Thanks Drakan. I've already read it!
:D

One difference, though -- when I play on a level, I play everything random! I have won one game on Diety, when I played the Sumerians, I waited to start on a river and had a bonus. I then played the game normally, got the GL, and rolled on to win.

I can win on Demigod most of the time with all random. But right now, I'm not sure I can do Diety. I'm hoping this doesn't become a 'If I get the GL I can win otherwise I can't.' Ultimately, I'm hoping I can win even without the GL, but I'm beginning to think this is beyind my capabilities.

Thanks!

Breunor

Reading Drakan's article was illuminating. I don't really stick to his strategies, but just knowing it can be done gave me the confidence to try it.

I'm only playing emperor, and I didn't get the GL, but it's a sufficiently easy level that I didn't have to have the GL. I am doing fine with out it, though I am on an archipelago map. Those seem to be the easiest.

I may try a harder level and stick to the strats and see what happens. I'd love to be win on Sid just ONCE before Civ IV comes out.

Rigged game (i.e. known landform & opponents): Emperor-Demigod
