From the Devs: Improved Map Generation

I imagine that it is technically possible to have parameters like the number of landmasses customizable. I hope they add things like that eventually.

I would also enjoy seeing the return of parameters like world age, temperature and water levels, which used to be available in the default scripts of Civ IV and earlier.

IIRC Civ IV also had a map script called "tectonics" which created an interesting variety of land masses.

Water level would be a big one. Would love to play games now and then where you can barely reach the distant lands until shipbuilding, except maybe a couple spots here or there. Could add some extra challenge.

And great to see that this is the beginning, not the end! Hopefully we'll also see some options or further thought given to the distribution of biomes within these good-looking coastlines so that things are not necessarily as stripy?
Thank you to the author of the Sept 30 dev notes for confirming "Expect changes to biomes coming soon, as well as more map types to follow!"
