Front Page Update

Now that all teams have contact, I was thinking about putting together a game update to feature on the CFC front page.

It would include a topologically correct* map showing the main continent and starting islands.
*horribly inaccurate

And it would list some of the major accomplishments of each team. Every team is #1 in something right now.

For example: "Team X focused on science, and has a significant GNP lead over the competition."

I would privately ask each team to approve their description so it doesn't give *too* much away. But I'm sure lurkers and new recruits would appreciate getting useful information.

Not exactly, but that could be a cool idea too.

I was mainly thinking of showing off each team's playstyle by listing something they are good at.

If everyone is just ignoring this thread because they think it's a lousy idea, I won't force it through. (I can't even post to the main page without getting a mod on board.)

I'm not sure we'd get any new recruits. I doubt anyone is looking to join a Civ IV game with this long of a timescale when they're only 2 weeks away from having Civ V. I'm also not sure how much each team knows, so I'd hate to reveal anything that someone had been ignorant about. As long as the message is sufficiently vague I guess it'll be fine though.

I just noticed that in this game there are two Orange teams, two Purple teams, and two Turquoise teams... fun You should mention that in the front-page announcement for sure.

But nothing rhymes with Orange and Purple yet we all know bourgeois rhymes with Turquoise!

Also I think that'll be quite clear on the little graphic, at least I would think the graphic was shown to all of the teams so far, Dave very kindly posted a preview for us.

After 90 turns in the pitboss BTS Multi-Team Demogame II, the teams have finally pieced together the world map. Each team has an England-style starting island, separated from the main continent by a narrow channel.

The six teams played a variety of openings:

• Philosophical Team Mavericks completed the Pyramids, giving them the most powerful specialists in the world.
• Imperialistic Team AMAZON used their cheap settlers to build the most cities in the world. And they completed the Great Wall for even more great generals.
• Financial Team Sirius emphasized commerce, gaining a significant GNP lead over their rivals.
• Expansive Team Merlot achieved the largest population in the world under the benevolent rule of King Indiansmoke.
• Viking Team CDZ spammed out fast galleys to keep their cities supplied with bacon, eggs, and spam. Now they have the largest colonial empire in the new world. And spam.
• Charismatic Team Quatronia emphasized exploration and resource acquisition, following the theory that "he who controls the spice controls the universe". They are now the happiest civilization is the world.

As the available land runs out, the teams are plotting their next moves. Can one team dominate the main continent? Or is it wiser to invade a neighbor's island directly?
