This is an FRPG game set in the future on a Mars colony. Here is the story. (It's lengthy, but it shows what is going on, so you may want to read it.)

Spoiler :
The year is 2123. Earth is experiencing a golden age. New environmental policies have been incredibly succesful and pollution and greenhouse gases have gone down sharply with the advent of cold fusion power and other technologies. Politically, things couldn't be better. The former United Nations finally voted to form every country on Earth into a new democratic nation; the Terra Republic. And all the time, the standard for living is rising as new programs by the Terra Republic help to nearly wipe out poverty, famine, and disease. With the problems on Earth almost resolved, the Terra Republic turned skywards.

One problem that was facing many countries at the time was the overflowing population of Earth. To solve this problem, many countries such as China, the US, and later the Republic funded the creation of Space colonies on the moon. The main player in making them a reality was Globocorp. Globocorp was a small corporation founded in 2078 which grew to a massive worldwide megacorporation selling almost all products used by humans, from automobiles and jet airplanes to toothpaste and dog food. The corporation has been headed by the Galden family ever since it was created, and it is now led by CEO Edward Galden, a young CEO who inherited the company from his father Darius five years ago. Since the corporation was so rooted in the nations of the world, Globocorp had a good grip on the world once the Terra Republic was founded. Globocorp had also been incredibly popular for the use of Atmos Generators. These inventions helped to clean and repair the atmosphere on Earth, but it was later discovered that it could be used to create atmospheres on airless planets. Needless to say, Globocorp was given control of many of the Moon colonies that it helped to build.

Meanwhile, the Republic found a new way to deal with the overpopulation problem; the colonization of Mars. "The thought of living on the Red planet so similar to our own was once a foolish dream, but now it is a reality," said one supporter of the act. The vote was unanimous and the Republic gave CEO Galdon the permission to build the colony. Globocorp immediately began the construction of the colony and soon residents came rushing in.

Anyway, the basic idea is to live and flourish on the Mars colony. You can play the part of nearly anyone who would come to the Mars, such as wealthy buisiness men, soldiers, builders, etc. You can come to the colony and do nearly anything. The surface of Mars will be updated often, so check the Mars layout section to see what is here. I am playing the part of Globocorp. Globocorp can do many things to make the game interesting, like giving someone a large amount of cash or ordering your land to be demolished. Globocorp also builds new buildings like houses and restaurants. The first building on the planet is the Globocorp HQ, which serves as a massive apartment building and workplace. Globocorp is also the law. If you break the rules (and their aren't a lot of them), I can have you jailed (banned for a few days) or I can banish you from Mars (permanentley banned).

The Rules

1. Be realistic.

2. Don't kill the other players and don't destroy Globocorp or you will be kicked out.

3. Don't be alien invaders. There aren't any aliens in this game.

That's pretty much it, so let's begin!

Current Buildings
The Globocorp HQ.

Scattered Atmos Generators.

Don't get me wrong, I think the idea is good, but what are you actually supposed to do in this game? You say this is a FRPG, but that we can build buildings? How is this regulated? Also, in all honesty I've never really known a FRPG to really succeed here.

The game is structured like Spacefarers, only you control a person instead of a ship. I called it a FRPG because there aren't any set goals, but If the game is more structured, it can be classified as an RPG. It depends on your point of view.

And yes, the building thing is little wierd. I'm going to change it so that only Globocorp can build things.

I'll join in first, then. I'll be a Pakistani (or from Pakistan, considering the world's one country) who moved to Mars seeking a new life after a typhoon wiped out everything he had and killed all he knew. His name will be Sahil Verani. His skills would mostly be farming, as that was what he was at Earth. He resides at Globocorp HQ.

I would like to play.

I'll be an American musician, feeling out of toutch with his spirituality due to extensive time in the spotlight. He goes to Mars, in search of himself. My skills will be mostly entertainment-related. I purchase myself four Globocorp appartments and knock out the walls, making an extra large comfortable yet not too gaudy residence.

Both of your characters are good. You may start playing.

I'm interested. :) I'll be a young eccentric, heavy-drinking doctor with a passion for archeology, who ran off to Mars to escape lawsuits by several ungrateful patients (I mean, hey, I tried my best. It's not my fault there's some stuff I can't fix. What am I, God?). Leaving behind all his friends and family, he arrived on Mars using most of his money to bribe the spaceship captain, and he bribed his way to getting a job and a place to stay at Globocorp HQ. He is now almost penniless and needs to take up extra jobs around the place.

Hey all, I have good news, better news, and bad news.

The bad news? Since this little game isn't very popular, I'm closing it down (big surprise:()

The good news? I'm starting a new game sometime soon, possibly with the same theme, which I'm going to post some information about later. Once sign ups are open, I'll reserve you three a spot.

The better news? It's not an FRPG. :D
