Once again, I'm very sorry for your children Liq. When first cat attacked I didn't expected such hecatomb. After the third one from Salamanca our guys were still OK - they were on the hill! But then came 4th, 5th and 6th - surely from other city. And then... it was nightmare. All those wild people looking like they born before Christ: archers on the horses, people with the spears from bronze, even one chariot. Our wonderful seven started to laugh, but then the longbows from Salamanca... No, it's to terrible to talk about.
Silver, why didn't you burn this hellish city to the ground???
 
I really tried... for some reason this map really hates my pc... I have some issue somewhere hardware wise yes, but civ has its own raft of bugs such that it's impossible to tell where theirs start and mine end...

I played 5 really crap turns (no I didn;t attack) that are not worth posting seeing as I had to save every move lest I lose where I was. impossible to keep any train of thought on that.

we have a ton of tanks in the queue and the spanish task force needs heals... missing bombardment units.

monty has a bunch of ships in our waters so get that destoryer in berlin done to deal with them.... buy that crap if you need to and go 0 on science to pay for it...

berlin is as good a place to build 3 dams as colone plus since cologne doubles it's hammers on military units... keep it pumping out 12 exp panzers.

my one good idea of the night was rush that destroyer in berlin NOW to deal with the frigates, pick up three dams on your first turn(in berlin) and send the engineer sitting in cologne over to berlin finish almost half of it for us.... I got 18 turns on 3 dams doing that.

keep cologne pumping out panzers... or whatever other military units you think you can get to the front fast.

Madris will get red cross, do not build any other nationals other than iron works which has a few turns left on it..

as for tech we need bombers, flight and radio.


washington has seals at the least now be careful.

If yes, then try to play with settings and change settings to low. Helped my laptop a lot.
 
Heh. Harkonnen's fix rocks. I can play Civ IV on small maps with my Pentium 3 Laptop. It has a GeForce 2 Go, and I need to clock everything down, but running Windows 2K to save ram, and now with Harkonnen's fix... sweet.

From that screenshot with troops in it... I lost Mean Gene later at Cordoba. And I usually don't like burning things (as you probably knew earlier when I kept Pheonecian. I don't regret that now though. That city is making monster gold!).

It will probably have to be Berlin for Three Gorges. I was under the impression that a river was required.

Don't mess with the Panzer, no one has anything that can take it down right now. When I talked to Washington, he said "Ho ho ho, now I have a tank." I laughed... "Ho ho ho, my panzer can whip your tank's butt!" Seals will be a joke next to our panzers. They don't get any bonus vs. them. We just have to watch our infantry and support units.

Oh yeah, the Big Man duo survived, last time I checked! Let's keep em alive ;)
 
I had hark on then I reinstalled civ, I turned off all settings etc etc etc stc yadda. you name it, re installed drivers, rebooted over and over, turned off all other apps, reseated ram underclocked the front bus and multiplier. clean install of windows so no didn;t do that.

so frustrated want to throw crap at the wall.

going to reinstall hark now and um look at it again.

as for washington take time on him, he'll have tanks soon and we need bombardment... once madris is online with redcross and ironworks, it'll do for infantry what colone does for tanks.

oh washington has a real fleet too... we need battleships.

since we have plastic, tech wise it's pretty clear...

flight + radio = bombers

from there, radio -> computers as
computers + plastics = robotics for mechs....

keep in mind we can stall on modern armor since panzers really hold up well until chopers come.

to recap liq's reasoning...

flight = airports...(and fighters) timbuktu needs an airport. cologne has rails.
flight + radio = bombers and lets us research computers
computers = uh good things come to those that wait.
computers + plastics = mechs

mechs coming from madris will be scary.

I calmed down by getting my ass kicked on moo. so love that game, sirian has a great page about dosbox, making it run much smoother than a simple compatability window.

so want to play this, pulling my hair out again :lol: :cry:

Too tired to pretty this up and post the screens I took.
the crashes were bearable on low settings but well crash I did..

only 7 turns, read the post later, I'll spruce it up after some sleep...see sun make it stop I'm meeeeelllllting.

boring crap nothing major other than getting 200 gold out of monty for peace and setting up the push.

set up to attack washington from 2 directions, from the east at atlanta and from the south at gaul. a ton of panzers, a few infantry and 6 canon roughly each.

the cav in the north is more for harrasment than serious city attack. keep the effing medic 2 alive! being able to heal adjacent units is good!
no unit names as well they are all new troops for the most part and have not yet gone through their naming ceremony. be descriptive in the fight sequence and I'll name em for you slack asses.

mass monty frigates on the home front and no ships to punk them.. notice the destroyers are goofing off at monty's house so buy out berlins destroyer for most of our cash.

check out madras and take two turns off ironworks.

madrid has 4 crabs wow... notice a worker crammed in there get him working railrods in the forests for the lumbermills.

2 workers in barcelona as well get them working.

mass the spanish campaign at cordoba to group up and heal and hold the town.

notice gooseneck has medic two, promote him to Macoy.

find big men todd and cecil and move them up.

madrid has the bud shrine so it's fine on culture... start on work boats to fix those nets.

madrid is prdoductive from the get go... dishing out 41 hammers a turn gonna send workers to get those lumber mills going asap. this town owns...

A great phofit pops and seems we don;t need one... gonna save it for a golden age in berlin or maybe the counfused shrine when we get it.

kumbi is now in make jud missonaries mode.. only need like 7 towns converted so if that's too slow add another city on it. the max 3 tho kinda makes the 2 turns per missonary moot.

timbuk starts an airport to shuttle those draftiess instantly, consider one town, not cologne, to ferry colognes panzers to the front. keep colonge doing what it does best... pumping out panzers.

djenn and munich start on fighters, do not scoff, they are great at intercepting pillagers.

bombers in 4, mechs in 23 I queued up the 3 techs..

operation beat down washington is ready to go.. passing the baton.

7 turns almost makes up for my overtime.

seriously think the crashes are a memory leak on civ's part. hark + low detail made the crashes less common but still crashed a good 5 times. 5 times was nothign compared to last go.


Make sure you take out atlanta, it's culture is crippling.

can use the cav to snark a few workers and pillage rails... do break up the rails as it will hamper his mobility.

got 900 gold in the bank, isn;t liq so nice?


be sure to hide our workers before calling war. =p

madris can pump out troops in a few turns as the hospitals build... started 3, need 4 more for a total of 7 to open up redcross. got plenty of time before mechs, those are the tropps we want the medic skill on, their speed and toughness makes the combo insane, can you say march and medic 1 innate?

WE HAVE A PROFIT in berlin which is 9 from making 3 dams..... no sure what to use him for, a super spec is too late to be useful. possible late game golden age is keen.

no one wants to trade us techs...

btw saw a tip when I started that said something like "don;t dispair when a large stack of units approaches you, athough catapults most likely won;t win against cav, they will damage them enough for your other units to take them out"

Cordoba is renamed Geneville in honour of the fallen cavalry whos sacrifice secured its taking. Task Force Geneville moves out towards Atlanta. I fully expect Washington to reinforce it.

Turn (2): We ain't fighting pansies anymore. Washington takes back Gaul. No matter. All my forces are there now. In the ensuing fight, I destroy Washington's garrison again, and begin destroying his cavalry stack he brought as backup. Where are all the "Ho ho ho tanks" he was bragging about?

Arg. He's got a bigass fleet. Battleships and everything. He's gonna sink me bad. Need some real ships. Savvy destroyer commanders manage to beat the odds and sink one of Washy's B-ships toe to toe. Ha! "You sunk my battleship!" Washy declares.

Up north, Task Force Geneville loses two panzers on sissy SAM infanty, but siezes the city without major problems. The culture pressure off, the units pile into Atlanta.

I knew you'd see reason Alex. Maybe it's because we're smashing Washy?

Get some cash out of HC for medicine. No real reason to hoard it. Oh yeah, and I can trade hit musicals now.

Turn (3): Ouch. Collateral hurts!

Major damage to the battelion in Gaul. This will not be pretty. Washington hit Gaul HARD with artillery and SEALs. Uhg. So many loses.

Turn (4): His fleet really is big. But our army is bigger. And when it comes down to it, fighting a land war cannot be done with ships alone. Our superior ground forces will crush his, and then his ships can sit around all they want.

I continue to consolidate Gaul and Atlanta. Damaged units are finally starting to heal, thank god! So much bombardment. I want to move troops towards Philadelphia.

Turn (5): Looks like Washington is kind of gassed. More movement on my part. Nothing else much. His impressive fleet continues to ravage our nets. Note to self, build lots more battleships and destroyers BEFORE declaring war.

Turn (6): I turn the research down 10%. From bleeding 62 gold per turn, we are now making 45. Should stop the hemmoraging for a while. I look into the finances screen and see us bleeding city maintenence and civics. When the time comes, we should get Communism and revolt to state property. That would save us SO MUCH GOLD with our huge army.

Philadelphia puts up no meaningful resistance. The panzers roll through, despite culutre defences.

Cannon stack levels Toledo's defences. Lone panzer goes in.

It looks like Washington has definately exhausted his forces on us. Panzers continue to roll off the line, and Madras is up and running.

Turn (7): Fear our ultimate production!

Uhg. Barb city is really unhappy with this war for some reason or other. Must finish Washy sooner rather than later. Err... actually, war weariness is going nuts in our primary cities. They are all starting to starve. Gulp. Start some temples and markets.

Moving units to front, towards New York. I might take a turn or two of overtime when the cannons get there.

Turn (8): Moving... Washington is bombing me with fighters now.

Turn (9): A bloody battle, but New York is now mine. Looks like I won't have to take overtime after all...

Turn (10): Consolidating all forces into New York. That means a HUGEASS stack. And when I mean huge, I really mean... geeze. Huge. I cannot even begin to count the panzers, not to mention the endless cannons and some infantry. When we get cash, the cannons should go to Artillery.


Alright, strategic overview... that was a bloody mess of fighting there. Washington was even worse than Isabella. Huge culture barriers, and we're not even done yet, Boston and Washington are still on the main continent. With that amount of Panzers, he cannot even hope to stop us, but the main problem is slugging through hostile terrain to get to him! Culture barriers, combined with the hills around Boston are going to suck. Speaking of which, Boston may make a nice production city when we get ahold of it.

Washington up north has an easier approach, unfortunately, New York is closer to Boston and has some mountains blocking access to Washington. The ungodly stack is also placed in New York, so we will have to hit Boston first.

War weariness is going to kill us if we don't finish fast. But we MUST kick Washington off the continent to ensure our domination. So we may have to revolt to police state, or something else undesirable like that, at least for a bit.

Err... and we need to build a whole fleet of work boats. Those enemy battleships were thorough...

Alex and company have been doing some funny things down South. I haven't been able to send scouts in yet, because of the war.

newyork is the founder of confusion, imo once everything settles, use that priest to make the shrine... don;t think newyork built it.

btw took like 30 mins to effing rename all those effing panzers... only know of so many german names off the top of my head!!!!

when a unit is over 20 exp I place a Capt. in front of their name so you can tell at a glance.

Lose a panzer another gets more exp and one rolls out of cologne to replace the fallen.. so scary.

I gave the panzers all german male names...

so max 14 panzers lost mk? It's all for the fatherland!!!! try and keep the high exp ones alive... the under 15 exp panzers are a dime a dozen tho!

I was playing with the idea of nordic female names for the choppers but bob the B**** is a gunship now... I mean all respect for the chopper class just went out the window.

Allow liq to end this post before he figures out how to use the word 'defenestration' in a pun.
