Hi,
I'm an italian Civilization V player (though I play since CivIII). I installed CivV just yesterday with Steam but I have an issue.
If i play DirectX11 I'm not able to fill the screen if I set a lower resolution than the screen resolution (it's a full HD screen).
I don't have this issue if I play the Directx9 version of the game.
In other words if I set a resolution lower than 1920x1080 the game is centered in the screen with a large black frame all around.
This happens even when I open the game, in the main menu.

How can I make the game fill the screen even at a low resolution?

Thank you all and pardon my poor english

 mmhh...IIRC there have been 1 or 2 other players around who reported problems with HD screens.

First question: Why do you want a lower resolution? That will look blurry, due to the monitor technologies.
Second question: Did you try the windowed mode?

That whole thing might be related to the problem, that Civ5 is not stable playable in some resolutions, and that you sometimes are forced to change to windowed mode if there's no suitable resolution. Might be related, i guess. Could also have something to do with the bigger need of processing power for DX11, maybe then there's not enough power left for continuous resizing.

What you write is perfectly understandable :).

First question: Why do you want a lower resolution? That will look blurry, due to the monitor technologies.

Because if I play in full HD fullscreen mode I have to turn off some filters (AA and Anisotropic Filter) in order to have a decent framerate. With a lower resolution I could enjoy a better visual quality.

Second question: Did you try the windowed mode?

Windowed mode is ok with any resolution. The problem is showing when I check the option for fullscreen mode, with a lower resolution the game remains at the same size, the only addition is a black frame all around, so I can't use the entire size of the screen.

Might be related, i guess. Could also have something to do with the bigger need of processing power for DX11, maybe then there's not enough power left for continuous resizing.

I'm runnig the game on a Corei7-2630, 6 gigabytes of RAM and a Geforce550M (2 gigabytes of memory). I don't know it for sure, but I hope this hardware is good enough. I spent 1000€ for this notebook just to play Civilization V when I'm travelling :mischief:
