Wheres the Rice.png

Is there rice there or not?

Spoiler :
It was an imagining problem. Exit to main menu and reload game and the rice shows up properly.

Were you also able to check it by hovering your mouse over the tile and checking the food output?
I didn't check it that way, so IDK.

The other joke would be giving you enough wood to plant a forest

Settling on the gold there does look like a good move though

I would have picked the forest near the two gold tiles and then placed another city in the forest to the left of the single gold tile to the south.
I would not move away from that food as it may be the only food specials and it would be needed here. With Darius, settling on gold gives a huge bonus in +2h and +2c (3c in center tile) and still have a gold to work.

I'd be interested in playing this but with Noble it is probably a Marathon game

My settle gets the clams for the southern city and allows the northern city to farm borrowed floodplains. Teach me more if I am incorrect.

Several reasons:

1) First, I would never make a move that does not provide gains. In some circumstances setting up split food for future cities is a nice idea, but here the 2 clams are the only two food specials visible and they are not the best food resources. I would not want to lose those in what appears to be a very nice city
2) I always look for bonus tiles to settle on like Plain Hills or Nanners, something that gives a bonus to the center tile that speeds up one's start. In this case with a Fin leader, this is a special super bonus tile.
3) Also, I would not burn a forest without good reason - more of a minor case, but I don't see any value here in moving my settler to that forest tile.
4) Looks like high potential to gain even more FPs down there which means that the gold will be a nice Bureau cap.
5) IV is very much about getting off to fast starts, and settling on that gold will help that immensely
6) Lastly, this is how the professional cows do it :D
