Future ALCs: Warlords?

I voted for you to stick with vanilla and complete the ALC. If you switch to Warlords you are basically half completing your task and starting a new one, which you won't complete before Civ V appears. I am still playing vanilla and don't want to switch until I feel I have played it out.

On the other hand, a decreasing number of people will be interested in vanilla, and an increasing number want to learn your lessons on how to play Warlords. If we don't get warlords now we won't have time to play that out before Civ V.

Damn, I've now become a don't know.

Someone mentioned that the quecha rush has been done to death, but I've never seen one played out with expert advice. I'm keen to see it on Vanilla, monarch maybe.

quechua rush is brilliant when the AIs start with archers! so basically at lower level it's completely useless, but it's very valuable at emperor +
I just killed hatchepetsuh at emperor level with steroid warriors (i had axeman at the end of the fight)

I don't think it's worth starting a play along game on Warlords now and finding it screwed up later by some major bug or other. If nothing has hit you so far it doesn't mean nothing will hit Sisiutil. For me, I am just hoping that there will be no disastrous problems in my game. When I bought Warlords and started the game, I hadn't looked around enough to realise the extent of the bugginess.

But now that he's going to play another vanilla game, there's no point debating. A patch should be released by the time he's ready to move on to Warlords.

Sisiutil, why not buy Warlords and play it on your own at the side in the meantime?

Well, I hope you pesky voters are happy, I bought Warlords(I'm sure that you all care) I haven't installed it yet, though... Sisiutil, you HAVE to change the ALCs now, and if you don't, I'll EAT YOUR SOUL! I'm not going to have to do that(souls are disgusting), am I?

I've been thinking of doing that. One thing gives me pause, however. Does anyone know if this would make my saved game files unplayable by those still on vanilla Civ IV? I don't want to post the next supposedly-"vanilla" ALC (Monarch/Huayna) only to have the files unloadable by a number of those following the thread.

No, it'll be fine. Warlords installs separately from Civ, and you can still play either, separately. The Warlords stuff does go into a folder under your Civ folder, but it doesn't overwrite anything.

Vannila will still run independent of Warlords, but Warlords is just so freakin' cool that I only use Vanilla for PBEM games...
