Future Worst Quattromaster Of All Time

Actually, I don't think there is a good explanation somewhere. I should probably get to that.

When you have multiple games on one table, only the best one affects QScores. However, the best two can count towards Quattromasters.

All of it. Trust me, if it weren't I'd have lost my mind by now. We just passed 5000 submissions for HOF-IV sometime in the last week...

yeah i figured you had it automated but i dunno, i can't assume you haven't lost your minds now can i?

i don't overly care about the scores, i just mostly want to motivate myself to stop the reloading habit (i've been doing it since the rogue/nethack days, if any of you are old enough to remember that). playing a game atm, very suspenseful but cool ... and then DOH bad memory allocation error crash. it got me upset, i haven't been cheating at all but now it'll look bad, i don't want to wait til tomorrow to go back to the game. so i took a break to eat but i am going to keep going. i tried to load from the last autosave, it actually has the error, it's only 1kb in size where the previous few are 56kb. i copied that buggy one in case there's some doubt about what i was doing, is that a good idea? it doesn't happen often, but it's not unheard of for me at least.

thanks bunches for answering my questions, and not minding my intrusion on your thread in competition for worst *giggle*.

 Actually, I'd forgotten this was originally my thread.

My Quattromaster's run may have to wait a little bit. I just got bumped off the Quartermaster's list in HOF-III, so I need to deal with that.

How do you get bumped off the list? Is there only a certain number allowed to hold the title, or what? Can we get bumped off the [civ4] Quattromaster list?

Off to check the [civ3] HoF forums for possible answers.

Edit: Okay, it looks like in [civ3] HoF the Machiavelli Award is given only to those who currently hold a position in the top six fastest finishes of each VC. It appears FadeAwayNot knocked Superslug out of 20k, causing him to lose this award, hence losing Quartermaster status.

Edit #2: I must comment that I'm really glad this way isn't implemented in the [civ4] HoF Rules.

Ditto that.

It's possible, but very very unlikely.

As you've already discovered (I think) one of the key differences between the Quarter and Quattro competitions, is that in III, your games have to be on the tables (positions 1-10). In IV, we count ones simply in the database, even if they're position 11+.

If that is the case, than how is it possible for us to get bumped? Or are you going with the safe answer, just in case sometime in the future something changes?

In other words, with the current system we cannot lose our title; but in the future, who knows...

Sorry I didn't see this earlier.

We do make some exceptions for crashes. That policy is in the HOF rules. :)

Basically.

You can't get bumped off the list by other players, pushed down, sure, but not removed.

Actual removal situations would require staff action. On very rare occasions, some submissions are retroactively pulled due to rules changes, etc.

woohoo!!!!

my first (and so far only) game submitted has been accepted now. chieftain/small/cultural.

my qscore is a whopping 1.912. that's right, i didn't even hit 2! so if i ever do go up all the way to diety and do all the rest (including gauntlets which = maybe never) i'm so getting the worst title muhahaha!

Disk space, probably insignificant, they're text. It does slow down the game though, considerably on some machines.
I think you're mixing your logs up! Enabling autolog logging won't slow the game down. Enabling Civ4's logging by changing "LoggingEnabled = 0" to "LoggingEnabled = 1" in the ini file does slow the game down. Don't do that last one unless you're investigating some problem with the game.

Having recently completed a III game to regain my Quartermaster Status, I decided to come back to IV for a little while. I'm trying to work on LON, Mapquest and Inferno simultaneously. Today I beat out Genghis to Domination in a future age duel highlands noble playing as the Aztecs.

I rushed Eiffel with a GE and built nothing but Settlers and Culture, putting an Artist specialist in most towns.

I hope all your cities were pop 1? :)

To become the worst Quattromaster, ofc! :D

Future Age towns start higher than 1. ;)

The whole worst Quattromaster thing was kind of a joke about my Quartermaster ranking. I've decided to rise up in those ranks, and once I'm on the IV list, I'll intend on moving up as well. :)

If I were you, I would've starved those future cities to one :)

you, my friend, are a genius. completely bonkers too, but that's beside the point.

i stole your idea. got brennus out of the way (his UU and UB totally don't interest me), highlands map which i hate, and emperor difficulty. i picked asoka for my opponent, figuring he'd not pick on me a lot.

my favorite moment was this:

yeah buddy, in a game with only 2 civilizations, where you started out already knowing all the techs, the internet ain't gonna do you a heck of a lot of good. it's not even a wonder that he rushed with some random GE, it's a project, he had to build it. maybe he was killing time while finishing off research to start apollo ... oh wait, that theory doesn't work. but hey, better than him spending the time beating me up or building a space ship.

he built apollo the very next turn, and i won two turns after that. wheeeee.

I just have to say that this Quattromaster thing is cool. It gives us mere mortals something to strive for, given that we are never going to have the highest scores or win GOTM. Even if we end up near the bottom of the table, at least we will be on a table - one that has required some dedication to get onto.
