G-Major 6/7

Then, a newbie can sometime been useful...

Perhaps you need an help for the Italian translation of the MOD?

i use civ in english, but if i can help...

I haven't added 2.08.002 or 1.61.009 to the database yet, so those won't be recognized yet. I'll get onto to that right now...
That's okay, I haven't loaded 2.08.002 on my machine yet and his save file gave me a prompt asking for it. That's how I knew his save was okay.

That would be great! Take a look at the xml files in HOF-2.08.002\Assets\xml\text. There is text that looks like Italian to my untrained eye between the <Italian> and </Italian> tags, but it's probably mostly bablefish translations and not much good. Just update any of the Italian text and send those files to us at hof@civfanatics.net and we'll see about including it in the next version of the mod.

[edit]Oh, and the check page should work for 2.08.002 and 1.61.009. Let me know if there are problem still. [/edit]

OK, i'll try to do my best for the translation ...

You probe CFC staff is very efficient.

edit:
Translation sent ... let me know something.

The file check is OK now.

Finished on Warlords with the start I had in post #10 (which made life a lot easier).
Spaceship in Mid 1900's (don't want to give the excact date away :D ), it will be slow compared to others but for me it was the fastest by over 50 years (I hate spaceship  )

By the end of the game I was waiting 16 seconds between turns, I think my computer needs another upgrade soon

Well, with this victory I am now a Quattromaster :woohoo:

James

I'm with you Ori - after spending so long on the game I hope I got all the settings right as well :D

Question - When it says 'Opponents - any' does this also mean we can choose how many there are?

Yes, as long as you follow the general HOF Rules about opponents.

Opponents
You may select who your opponents are. The selection must not include any leader multiple times, nor can you choose an AI leader identical to the one you're playing. The number of opponents per mapsize should be between (or equal to) the following Minimum/Maximum per map size: (will be the same for any game type).

Code:
[B]Mapsize Minimum Maximum[/B]
Duel 1 2
Tiny 2 4
Small 4 7
Standard	6 10
Large 8 14
Huge 10 17

I submitted a 1848 Victory for Vanilla - its been accepted but the gauntlet page doesn't list it yet (probably because its .009) - I sure hope I got the settings right (entry #4102:rolleyes: )

Hello I have submitted an 1875 (summission : 4098) for warlord, but I am not able to see it in Gauntlet. Is it invalid or is it because of 2.08.002?

Other question: Is it possibel to save in Warlord the setting of oppointment, because it is very boring and I can make mistakes when I set agian and agian the oppoinents.

Try looking again, I think I have that corrected.;)

I have a question before start playing:
In warlords there's a list of 10 opponents preceded by "must include"
does this means we'll fight against 10 opponents, or we can go with 6 choosing from the list?

I ask this because it seems that vanilla can be played against the usual 6 opponents.

Thanks for the answer

A suggestion:
the mechanics of the HOF can be guessed (perhaps with some misunderstanding), but IMHO a page with a plain exposition would help the poor newbies like me.
I don't fully understand how Quattromasters works, how to participate and so on.
2 possibilities: :p
1) i'm a bit stupid (or a lot)
2) things can be better exposed.

Warlords has to play against all 10 listed.

I've got redoing the Challenge explanation page on my todo list, but we've been rather busy lately.

We received it, it looks good, it will be in the next release of the mod, thanks! :goodjob: We haven't decided when the next release will be though and we only just released the last version...

Currently reading A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin
We seem to have similar reading preferences, only you lag behind me for about a year ;). Rather gory book, btw.

I'm too cheap to buy hardbacks. Actually, in this case I was so cheap I just borrowed that book off of a friend. I really must get him hooked on a couple more series' I'm interested in so he can buy the rest :mischief:.

I'm too cheap to buy... erm... that's it :shy: ...and I sent it to couple of friends then... but don't tella anydody-a

You might try using Map Finder to generate a bunch of maps. Of course with that many opponents, it is liable to stop due to AI contacts pretty quickly. But even if you only get a couple saves each time, you are ahead 50%. ;)

Another thing you could do is save a 4000BC of a game that is set up how you like. When you want a new map just load that 4000BC and regenerate. The HOF mod has a change in it which means that this regeneration will create a new map each time.

I don't buy books, just pay late fees at my local library. I've never gotten to block in an opponent on the first turn - awesome luck!

About regenerating the start: you save after you regenerate, right? and submit that new map?

Also, where do you find instructions for mapfinder? That's a part of the HOF mod, right?

Right. You can only play each map once. :goodjob:

It comes in two parts. The main part is in the HOF Mod. The other part is a utility to manage your rules files and savegame files. You can find the utility and instructions >>here<<.
