G-Minor 160

Nano pangea is a must, of course. Standard number of opponents. It is important not to vassal first civ, as to get much higher power rating which is the base factor to decide if someone is willing to cap or not. War success is also a factor. Pick Ais with high vassal chanches (gandhi, hatty and surprisingly catherine). 2 cavs per opponent rifle is enough usually, attach the GG to a grenadier and give him 2 mov and use it as nutcracker. Be sure to snipe every unit/worker/explorer out in the field to increase war success.

I did not use theocracy, and went for feudalism+org religion. I guess the difference is minimal though.

Yeah, I've been using torroidal/high seas/cold pangaea. I don't really see much difference myself other than high seas obviously. I pick all the light weight AIs and...yeah...I take out at least the first 2 AIs. Catherine is interesting choice...ideally her not getting Cossacks.

I can't seem to do better that turn 50. You say 2 Cav per Rifle, but I've been having extraordinarily bad luck vs. rifles. Sometimes losing 3. The killer is wiping almost my entire army against very few units. Just kills momentum. Mobile Gren is interesting idea.

Tried one with Asoka....the fast workers plus the traits really got me up ahead of the others. Gandhi was blocked in and then Cathy DWed me. She has Cossacks but capitulated after I took Moscow. Pretty smooth game, but I over build and lost time. A few suicide Calvary are all that is needed for most 20% culture cities with two riflemen. Wow....huge difference this game.

I've managed to knock some rust off my game and got my finish down to turn 63. I have identical finish dates for 2 games: one with Cavs and the other with Gren. Both maps I was on the far end of the landmass. A more centralized starting location should help knock some more turns off the finish date. I'll try a few more.
