Gall Communication Thread

Greetings Explosive ones:

The party boat may have sailed, but opportunity is yet in the harbor.

We would be interesting in trading technologies. You have masonry. We are interested in it. What would you take for it?

Come, let us reason together to mutual benefit.

We hope to hear from you soon for the wind is fair, the tide is right and...

I'm sailing away set an open course for the virgin sea
I've got to be free free to face the life that's ahead of me
On board I'm the captain so climb aboard
We'll search for tomorrow on every shore
And I'll try oh Lord I'll try to carry on

I look to the sea reflections in the waves spark my memory
Some happy some sad
I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had
We live happily forever so the story goes
But somehow we missed out on that pot of gold
But we'll try best that we can to carry on...

And the 'best that we can' is to continue the party.

Any ideas?

I say we hold a 'diplomatic meeting' (chat) with them.

that might be a good idea, but remember, we can't use too many big words. it'll confuse them. they are idiots living in anarchy (they said this themselves) ;)

seriously, we should try to find out if they really don't like us in-game as much as in the forum. we may be able to make them allies in the shorterm, but then backstab them in the future.

I think we should keep our official negotiations here in the forums as much as possible.

I wonder if they have writing... You know some gold would be nice, too. Our treasury stands at 1 gold. What do we need to upgrade a warrior to an immortal... is it 40g?

So, are we interested in trading techs with the Galls or should we lay low and see what the Iroqi will offer us when they are begging for mercy?

lurker's comment: It costs 60 gold to upgrade a warrior to an immortal.

Hmm...by checking research costs it looks like both the Iroqi and Galls have writing, the wheel, warrior code, and ceremonial burial.
Iroqi also have literature and either galls or the unmet greeks have it as well.

It looks like we don't have the only contact to the other continent.
It would surprise me if the Iroqs haven't sent out a curragh. Off course we need an embassy to be sure about their contacts.

No wonder we've only got 1 gold left!

Even though we cannot afford an embassy perhaps we should trade masonry for writing and whatever else the Galls feel like paying. (We don't have writing yet, do we? ) I guess we need a screen shot of the tech screen...

The paragraph you quoted was mine :crazyeye:

Currently we have: Bronze Working, Alphabet, Masonry, Pottery and Iron Working. We are getting Mathematics in 3 turns.

If the Galls are willing to give us writing for masonry, we will have a very good deal. Writing is worth a lot more, but if they really need masonry they might agree.

Talk about right church, wrong pew! Guess I shouldn't try to quote a quote...

Anyway, the Iroqi are not biting at the peace talks so let's offer to swap masonry for writing straight up.

The Greeks / M.I.A. have discovered masonry on their own. With the continuing war against Iroq we have only one potential customer for masonry, and we now have a competing seller. We need to get a good offer into KISS right away to try to salvage something for this tech. I still think the wheel is a priority for us to get.

Dear TNT

It was exciting to hear from your great peoples ... exciting yet
strangely confusing.

You indicated a willingness to trade Masonry for Warrior Code, Wheel
and Ceremonial Burial. You also proudly informed us that TNT were the
only team thus far to have this knowledge, your Trade advisor would
have informed you prior to approach that we already had Bricks and
Mortar. However since your approach, and unless you are trying to dupe
us, D-Nuts only very recently must have popped a Hut.

We can only assume that you ment to say Mathematics ... we would like
clarification ... if you indeed made a mistake then that would explain
much.

If the deal proposed is Mathematics for the 3 stated technologies ...
then we are agreed and will send the documents for your signature.

Please respond

OK, we need to formulate a reply. Personally, I'm not too keen on trading math away. Can someone post the current values of these techs? I doubt the Troq popped a hut and got masonry. MIA got it the turn after we sent our message and they most likely sold it to the Iroqi. Can we tell MIA we're at war with Iroq?

Wrong thread. Nevertheless, I'll reply here. Mathematics would cost them 205g to research; the wheel would cost us 68g, warrior code would cost us 51g, ceremonial burial would cost us 34g, writing would cost us 137g. It's been a week; why did they wait so long to reply? Perhaps they want to switch Black Hole to the Statue of Zeus. Do the Galls have masonry yet?

Doh! They're the Greeks, aren't they!

173g for 205g. No wonder they want to make the trade. Galls did not have masony on turn 58.

Greetings!

We have sent an offer of masonry to your people. This is a 'fine technology' that will allow your people to build houses out of stone instead of straw or sticks. In return we ask that you teach us how to draw sounds and give us a few shiny gold coins for our treasury box. We know that time is short so please make us an offer (in game) that you think is fair (and accept it). If we also think it is fair we will accept it (next turn).

It is our hope that this will be the beginning of a long and mutually prosperous relationship between our two peoples.

Hello Grand Vizer,

Who can say what a picture is worth?
A thousand words, a thousand krona
For we've had a look inside the Banana
How might you ask can we see?
Why by looking out the window
Of our new embassy
In exchange for the skills
Of laying brick on brick
We'll keep our knowledge to ourselves
And not share how many shields
You make on each tile
With the cake eaters of Springfield
If before our turn sixty four
The gift of masonry we see.

Kisses,

You know, now that's I've read this, it sounds a bit like blackmail, doesn't it?

Needless to say, I did not gift masonry to these buggers. Should we reply to this? I say we tell them to go straight to Sprinfield, take their picture and stick it right up their donut hole while they're having coffee with the Iroqi.
