I won and the game exits and says i'm missing an entry in my pedia icons for angry japanese face can anyone help

Check out this post.

I had a similar problem in GOTM21, and fixed it by editing the pediaicons.txt and then reloading the last auto save before victory to get to the winning post.

I edited the text and now it says file not found """

Edit: Oops, I forgot to mention.

The following information applies to PTW only. If you are playing CIV3 1.29 then the described location of the file is incorrect. I haven't installed GOTM files on my 1.29 so don't know the details for that environment.

Here is an example of the important part of the edited file. On my system the file is found at C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\CIV3PTW\Scenarios\gotm21\Text but on any given system the first part of the path name C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive could vary if you used a non-standard installation.

In the pediaicons.txt file in this subdirectory only, look for this. The green lines are the ones which came with the file, and the red lines are the ones which need to be inserted. There aren't any blank lines between them in the actual file, that is an artifact of the color tags...:

Code:
[COLOR=green]#HURTN_RACE_AMERICAN
art\leaderheads\AB_CONQ.pcx
[/color]
[COLOR=red][b]
#HURTN_RACE_JAPANESE
art\leaderheads\TO_CONQ.pcx
[/color][/b]
[COLOR=green]
#HURTN_RACE_Minoans
art\leaderheads\Strathclyde_Small_Beatup.pcx
[/COLOR]

This change fixes it for a conquest win. There are several other places in the file where the japanese lines were overwritten with minoan lines. If you need a file which is adjusted for another ending condition and can't figure out how to do it, feel free to post another update. Don't include any details about your game, just what ending condition is not working.

GOTM Staff,

Are we going to get an official fix for this problem so we can all finish our games?

I've checked out all the recent pediaicons files that were issued for use on the Mac version 1.29 and the Japanese are all present and correct as far as I can tell.

We had a somewhat different problem with the cultural victory parade in the version 1.29 GOTM21 file. It was flagged up for GOTM22 players early in August and should therefore have been repaired before game 5.4 started. Anyone in doubt should check this post.

OK, I too had problems with ending my GOTM 5-4 and worse still I was having problems with my normal games of civ.

I realised now that when GOTM21 came out I loved the new improved Civilopedia so much that I copied it into my normal subdirectory for these things C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\CIV3PTW\Text and also copied the PediaIcons.txt file with it.

So I have now gone through the entire file and re-added the Japanese back into this file.

RENAME ME TO PediaIcons.txt

This should be put into the scenarios/GOTM21/text directory as described by DaveShack. This will fix all the various portrait heads.

YOU WILL NEED THIS FILE ONLY IF
A) YOU PLAYED GOTM21 ON PTW
B) YOU CHECK F4 IN A GOTM WITH THE JAPANESE IN AND IT SHOWED A QUESTION MARK FOR THE JAPANESE.

Also if in a normal SP game you get Question Marks for the Japs in the F4 screen then this PediaIcons.txt file needs to go into your CIV3PTW/text folder as well.

Hope this helps.
