Game closes everytime I Load/Start new game

I've already played civ 5 for 125 hours and its worked fine(ish) but now when i start a new game or try and loadan old one the game closes, it leaves no messages and doesn't lag or jam up like when it crashes, it just closes about 20sec into the load screen on any map style or size. I play on a very low end laptop (2gb RAM and chipset graphics) but the game used to work well on all standard maps appart from the normal civ 5 bugs/crashes that still plague the game. It had been working fine after the update and i've verified the integrety of the game files on steam 2-3 times. Any ideas on how to fix this? Or what its is?

Is this problem similar or the same as reported here? We haven't figured out what causes it, or why it seems to fix itself for others. Please post your DxDiag file. Thanks.

Not the same problem, I get to the loading screan with leader pic and it loads for a bit before closing, it happens when starting new games as well at the moment - currently I cant play the game at all, but I can do anything in the start up menu. Here's my Dxdiag.

Your Intel 965 Express Chipset is marginal for running the game and your video drivers are from early 2009. First, try to update your drivers. If that doesn't help, run the game in DX9 (assuming that you're running DX10/11). If running in DX9 allows the game to start, but results in unreadable characters, see this thread for a possible workaround. HTH. Please post again if none of these suggestions help.

My drivers are fully updated (I had to do it to be able to see the in-game text), and the game was working normally for about a month untill earlier today when it stopped working, I only want to try the Dx9 work around as a very last resort as I'd rather play the game with everything working instead of covering up any faults that could really be fixed. Also would the game work faster on Dx9 instead of 10/11, even though I play with graphics set to a minimum?

Your game will not look better with DX10/11, because this intel chipset does not support it, so you will not lose anything with DX9.

If it worked a month before, then...then it could, only could be, that something has damaged your graphics card.

Dx9 work-around doesn't work, I checked out the inside of my laptop and nothing looks damaged, but when i used to play civ4 sometimes when it crashed it would say that the display driver had stopped working but had recovered (in the bottom right hand corner with the time and battery power in etc.), I'll see if my other games work and i've already run a virus scan so its not that. Any other suggestions? Also when it used to crash with civ5 sometimes it used to say the sound card was at fault, could this be the problem, i don't know if they can cause problems if not upto date or maybe wearout?

Edit: Other games are working fine inc. Empire: TW which seems to be much more graphicly intense than civ5

Fixed the problem, a file was corupted or something and steam didn't pick it up the first time - but found it today game is working fine thanks for all the help tho lol
