Hello,

I have a problem with Civilization V (with the main game and G&K). The thing is that I have a crash or freeze while joining or trying to host a new game in a multiplayer mode. I tried to fix it in many ways - I just cannot play multiplayer at all - I do not know what can cause this problem - I have no idea and slowly losing hope to play this wonderful game with my friends. Hope I stated the problem clearly enough.

Looking for hearing from any of you soon,

Cheers.

Have the same problem when I've hosted. Often crashes after several hours of gameplay. I don't get how a 4 year old game can still not be stable enough to play.

It sucks even more because the single-player AI is so poor. Most games you play single-player to learn and then can move on to multi-player but with Civ 5 you're stuck.

I don't recall Civ IV multiplayer crashing so frequently. Can't Firaxis hire a few software engineers to fix this!

hmm this should actually be fixable, try messing around with your settings files in regards to game threading, try running it in a single thread. and make sure in your gfx settings that leader screen is set to medium or low.

Still having that problem - I do not know what to do, because I have got a new PC and new screen and still the same. The most funny thing is that my friend can actually play in a multiplayer mode... on my old PC and monitor. Everything is new and still the same thing ? Can it be a problem with my Steam account or something like that?

Crashes aren't entirely host's problem. If a player is lagging it can make resynchs occur.

Generally, if you want a good game you need:

-Host having a great computer(16gb+ RAM) with great upload(25+ mb/s)
-having other players play on a decent computer or better(8gb+ RAM)
-All players from same continent(usually giving 150 or better ms ping)

I personnally have a 8gb RAM and 10 mb/s upload capacity and i can barely host 6 plrs games(usually crash/resynch after the turn 120). But if games are down to 4 players or less after these turns(which happens often) then i'm ok for the rest of game.

Closer are players together better it is of course.

I remember a game where host was telling that he had a 32gb RAM comp and 150 mb/s upload(!!!) and hosted a 8 players game...it runned smooth for like 110-120 turns(smoothest 8 plrs game ever seen) until...someone killed him  We couldn't continue at all nobody was ready to take the relay
