Game crashes after a short while in-game when run on DX 11

I've been unable to play Civ 5 when run using DX 10/11. The game starts up without issues and loads fine but as soon as I am in-game, it crashes after about 1 minute. I have an up-to-date computer system and I have played Civ 5 on other computers with lower specs without major issues. My computer specs are as follows:

AMD 6 core 1055T 2.8 Ghz
4GB Ram
Nvidia GTX 460

The game runs successfully under DX 9. When run using DX 10/11 I have tried reducing the graphics settings to the minimum but the same problem occurs. This is clearly very exasperating and I'm really hoping that this can be sorted out.

Really hoping someone can help me out here.

Sad to say but overall I am very disappointed with Civ 5 (I am an ardent fan of the Civ series). It is as though the game was rushed to make a quick buck without much fine tuning. I have just started playing the game (on a different computer) and this is just one of many glitches that I have encountered.

I get crashes all the damn time once in the late 1900's with lots of cities.

I cant go 2 turns without it crashing.

Im running:

Core 2 Duo Quad core
4GB Ram
2x SLI NVidia GTX260
Win7Ultimate.

Not sure why the game keeps crashing, but very annoying that I have YET to finish a game, since I cant make it past the late 1900's on Huge maps.

Pretty weak if you ask me and Ive been a CivFanatic since Civ 1 on the old Amiga 500.

Anyone know of any fixes or should I just resume playing CivIV and sell this crap ass game?

VERY DISAPPOINTED,

@actof: You can't resell the game, it is permanently tied to your Steam account.

Have you tried lowering any settings, and especially tried playing on smaller maps? (It seems like there are still a few bugs Firaxis is (and/or needs to) working on fixing for the huge maps).

@Prince,

I tried to go from DX11 to DX9, seam to work till I went to war (Handful of turns). Havnt tried smaller maps, cause I cant stand em. I like the Huge Map/Marathon settings the most.

Hopefully Firaxis will fix this issue asap. Too many people with the same problems, means thier fault not our equipment.

Thanks for the reply!

Been a civ fan since ps2. I agree that civ 5 appears to have been released to soon. When are the patches coming? And I would have prefered a more detailed version of bts, the concept thus presented is a bit wanting, but I"m not complaining.

I suspect they are working on it for the next patch, as there is a thread in Civ5 General Discussion about sending huge map future era saves to Firaxis. But yeah in the meantime huge maps probably won't be finish-able.
