Game crashes at new era popup

I was happily playing, then one day (today) I can't advance to new era. Its the normal game (conquests). I think its the New Era popup screen, but not sure. Is there a way to turn it off. Only alert I get is from Windows telling be game has crashed, not from the game itself.
Game not via steam.

Crashes of that type are often due to corrupt or missing graphics. The simplest solution is to uninstall and reinstall the game.
