Game Crashes Trying to Select New Tech

Recently I began having a problem. When I attempt to open up the tab that lets me research a new tech—the part of it that lets you access the tech tree—the game crashes. This only happens immediately after completing a research, although at the moment I don't know if it happens with anything except writing. Help would be greatly appreciated, since I can't exactly play more than a few turns as long as this sticks around.
