Game Crashes when beginning new game (sigh)

I have all of the system requirements.

Graphics card is NVDIA GeForce4 MX 440

I played the tutorial fine, so I start a new game. All works ok and I hear the Star Trek guy's voice. When hes done talking, and it says the loading screen is done, my computer randomly restarts.

Has this happened to anyone?

EDIT: Even more fun... i tried it again and the "DnV (or something like that) driver inexplicably stopped working". I'm beginning to regret buying the game before the kinks are worked out.

I don't get how they wouldn't see these obvious bugs when beta-testing.

yeah i jus got a new comptuer and it's crashing on me too.

Similar prob here....
No complete crash, but after the guy has finished talking 'bout life, the universe and all the rest the game seems to fall asleep. I still get those messages about what I should do with my galeons and transporters etc...but the status bar doesn't move beyond 1/5 progress.
