game crashing + 1 file fails to validate

Anyone out there experiencing this? The game randomly stopped responding with a blank black screen. I rebooted to be on the safe side and figured I would validate the local files. One file fails validation. The reacquire process fails and further attempts to play the Civ 5 game results in blank black screen.

Rebooted, deleted local steam cache files, reloaded game with full patch.

Same issue here - so much for my plans for a Saturday night Civ-Fest with my friends.
