If more information is needed, please ask. Basically, when I run CivIV, I get the starting screen and it stays for about 5 minutes then I get a crash. CivIV never really starts. I have tried tech support, but they are slow to respond and I am getting frustrated! I was asked reciently to edit the CivilizationIV.ini file and have found that there is no such file on my machine. I have also found that there is no directory My Games under my documents. Has anyone had a problem like this? I am thinking it might be an install problem... I have even traided disks at Best Buy and I still have the problem, so I would not think that it is a bad disk... Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks...

I have an ATI card, but I do not even get as far as the game starting... I also tried the patch version with the same crash before the game even starts...

It appears that you have a Dell Laptop? What type of media drive do you have?

I have another thread started here that details a possible similar problem that I am having.

I have a TSSTcorp TS-L532B which aparently is not compatible with the copy protection program.

Yes, I do have the drive indicated above... Thanks! Now I need to find out how to fix this problem... I will follow your thread!

Thanks!
Greg.

Basically the fix is to disable the Sonic DLA... CivIV is working fine for me now!

Thanks!

Back to no go... Disabling Sonic DLA, worked to an extent! I was able to install all of CivIV. I was able to run once... I cannot run again. I am back to Civ IV crashing before starting up...

Gfreit, what's using so much memory? Did you get that spec after loading Civ 4? What kind of video card do you have & also have you tried the manufacturers drivers? Also close all starting programs, esp. anti-virus,when running the game.

Other than that I can't think of anything else, get back with the info...
