Game doesn't launch on my new PC

Hola!

I installed CivIII on my new laptop PC for my summer holiday trip to summer cabin, but now the game simply doesn't launch.

After a "black screen" Windows informs me that conquests.exe has stopped working or something like that.

I have Windows 7.

A big gotcha for a lot of netbooks is that the built-in display vertical resolution is less than 768. CivIII uses 2D interface templates that are 1024x768, and if either width or height is less than that the game simply won't work.

I have Windows 7.

CivIII needs to modify files under its program folder, and Vista and Win7 fight that (see "Virtual Store" and whatever they call the program file directory protection). Check the Installing under Windows 7 thread and/or the Win7 install video link in my signature.
