Hi, I've been playing for a while now and almost always ended upp in this setup that I've got now.. What can I do from here or what have I done wrong. Its noble and I think I should have surpassed it by now.
So far Ive been running a religion/specialist game relying a bit on everything to make my research go forward. I've as you will see, about 80% on the techslide, two religions with shrines and one scientistcity, one production city, one capitalwonder city and an additional one for pigs. Im playing as Egypt with Creative/Spiritual.

Please have a look

You're actually playing on prince difficulty...

Religion is highly overrated. Your shrines are giving 3 and 4 gpt; less than what you'd have from settling 2 prophets. BTW what did you do with the other two? I'm guessing Theology bulb for one...Generally one religion plus shrine is good if you can use that religion to gain some allies (works better on continents than pangaea-like maps. Here you've made everyone dislike you.

Far too few cities and workers. The hammers in marginal-value wonders (Stonehenge, GW) would have been better spent on settlers/workers, or on military to grab more land.

You say you've relied on a bit of everything to move research forward...except cottages, probably the single most important part. Seriously, all-farms comes close to cottages for research only if you get the Pyramids for early Rep.

Despite all this criticism, you're still in decent shape with a clear tech lead over all but one civ. I would go Construction next and use a WC/cat/axe/sword force on one of the backwards neighbors, probably Monty.

I guess its to late to rework to cottages with any great efficiancy since I cant get anymore towns. I used SH to bulb thouse techs early uu gives possible 2 priests. I was also going for specialized cities and thats why i went food. Its easier to specialize with specialists hehe. I think my marginal error is going specialists earlygame where im supposed to expand and make allies. I sent a missionary to Ragnar when i bulbed CoL but it got killed  . I guess rexx with cottages is my best way. Is this generally right or is the downfall of the techslide to sever?

REX with cottages is a good and solid strategy if you have the land to pull it off. In poor commerce maps specialists may be a more solid way to go.

As stated, going for a religion is often not worth it unless you can spread it around quickly and get a fortune with the shrine. Otherwise you will want to shoot for a scientist rather than a prophet GP to het the tech rate up, especially if you have a high slider/ lot of commerce economy.

At prince level getting your diplomacy right is not important at all if you know what you are doing. Emperor level players spit in the face of every prince AI and get away with it just fine. You may want to read up on some strategy articles however to learn how diplomacy work and learn to exploit it properly however. It never hurts to learn some good habits for when you are ready for monarch. Once you get on par with the prince AI however diplomacy gets very important. If they declare war one some one, you do not want to find yourself trampled, right? If you are indeed disliked by every one you are probably not handling things as tactful as you could and therefore you may deny yourself some good trades and alliances.

Good luck with the transition to prince!
