Shadow Game - Is this just a map *I* can not beat?

Well, if maps are only Pangea and 50% winrate with reloads is an achievement... surely why one need archery at all.
The reason we focus on Deity difficulty Pangaea maps is simply because we don’t have a lot of time. As you might know, in the East, our work hours tend to be quite long. With standard Pangaea maps, we can enjoy a full game in just one afternoon. Once we retire, though, we’ll definitely have the time to tackle Deity challenges on more map types!:crazyeye:

I’m new to this forum but a seasoned Civilization IV player from China.
Plz, open a new thread, like "I'm from China, ask questions about our Civ4 scene". Many people hesitate to discuss your writing in this thread, because it is not about the map, posted by OP.

Dedicated thread would be very beneficial.

We certainly disagree on the viability of a cuirassier breakout. It seems like a waste to not utilize Philosophical, Industrious, Financial or a rich map to build a tech lead over the AIs. We agree on the importance of Great Scientist "bulbing" Philosophy for Pacifism, but this is mostly due to the speed at which you can get to cuirassiers with additional great people.
Do you use BUG or BUFFY mods or something else?
How much do you utilize espionage?

Sorry about that, I just got a bit carried away and ended up rambling! I’m also playing the map you shared, OP, and I’ll post some screenshots later

First, our community doesn’t use any bugs or mods. When challenging Deity difficulty, we even check the AI’s interface every turn to see if they’re preparing for war. The reason we mostly opt for the 'Catapult Rush' strategy now is that it doesn’t require a tech lead or exceptional starting resources. With just four cities, you can execute it and still achieve a strong position. Of course, we’re aware of the Cuirassier Rush strategy, which relies on securing a series of tech leads—similar to our older classic tactic, the Cannon Rush, which we no longer use. Let me give you an analogy (though it might be a bit inappropriate 😊): Imagine you’re getting intimate with a girl, and after a lot of buildup, the doorbell rings—her father is home. Can you relate? The later your strategy involves attacking the AI, the higher the risk. For example, the Cuirassier Rush typically crosses borders after Turn 145, and the Cannon Rush after Turn 170. With the Catapult Rush, we start building Axemen and Spearmen well before Turn 100, when we unlock Construction. Even if the AI declares an early war, it doesn’t disrupt our plans too much. Anyway, I don’t want to overstep by rambling further, but if there’s a good opportunity, I’ll start a new thread to detail this strategy. Of course, you can always DM me if you have questions!
